Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize edit

I have removed the statement that Pirie was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. References were Tim Worstall's blog, and an Adam Smith Institute newsletter which gave no further information. Anyone can be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, so a nomination is not notable. [1] says "Any person or organization can be nominated by anyone eligible to nominate. There is no vetting of nominations prior to the nomination deadline, hence the Norwegian Nobel Committee has no influence on the quality of the submissions. The task of the Committee is strictly limited to selecting the best candidate (or candidates) among the entire list of submissions. To simply be nominated is therefore not an official endorsement or honour extended by the Nobel Committee, and may not be used to imply affiliation with the Nobel Peace Prize or its related institutions."

Nomination is arguably somewhat exclusive, since only certain people can be nominators, and approximately 300 people are nominated each year. But I would argue that only nominees who made the short list are notable as nominees. [2] cagliost (talk) 15:35, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
