Talk:Macroom Oatmeal

I am sorry to say, but this article reads like an advertisement. It is nice that it is served in Ballymaloe, but in fact is that is non-relevant info, at best trivia. Websites that are in fact comparing or giving recipes are not useful as sources. passing mentions are also not suitable. So please, start looking for sources that say something about the Macroom Oatmeal or its producer. The Banner talk 19:25, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

@The Banner: Let me know if this is an improvement!
A very tiny bit. To be honest, the personal reflection as used in The Atlantic (source 1) makes it a rather shaky source. The slow food source (source 2) is not a source I would use. Source 3, The Courant, is just a comparison and useless as source. Source 4, The Independent, is a recipe and useless as source. Source 5, Saveur, is a passing mention that conveys no relevant information. Source 6, Ballymaloe, is just a webshop stating that they sell it without useful information. Source 7, Darina Allen, is again a recipe without useful information.
In a freaky twist, the best source was the one you have removed: Ireland Guide.

'boarded on' edit

@Philg88: -- Yeah, that 'boarded on' is Slow Food's terminology, which I think is a leeetle on the precious side. 'Taken aboard' maintains their idea but is a lot clearer. valereee (talk) 21:50, 7 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

corporate promo? edit

@The Banner: What about that was corporate promo? valereee (talk) 22:34, 18 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

All those references added absolutely nothing to the article and were merely passing mentions of personal reviews. They seemed to be used only for extra promotion of the subject by taking a few quotes out of context. The Banner talk 11:29, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Well, I think the references themselves are fine -- both are to articles about the article subject. But I can include them as providing further support of what's already there instead of adding content valereee (talk) 12:09, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
There is not much to compromise in advertising and promo. The Banner talk 14:16, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Can you give me some more of your thinking regarding what you're seeing as advertising and promotion? valereee (talk) 14:30, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
