Dirty bomb edit

A pretty much lunatic idea, based on some supposed Russian source, says that the ship was a dirty bomb to be exploded after going through the Suez Canal, winds carrying the radioactivity into Israel. Interesting enough to remark about here, but obviously can't go in without a source. zafiroblue05 | Talk 21:56, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

A more mundane explanation is based on the fact (verified by rather credible sources; see the main articles about Somali piracy) that several nations are using the lack of a Somali coast guard to dump spent reactor fuel and toxic waste off the Somali coast.
The whole itinary of the Iran Deyanat also does not compute with any connection to nuclear technology development in Iran.
Thus, the most prosaic explanation is that the Chinese used a scheduled Iranian freight transport to Europe to get rid of some toxic/nuclear waste. As Iran is dependent on its friends (namely the PRC), the Iranians would hardly be in a position to interfere or complain if they'd be asked nicely to play along by providing plausible deniability.
