hold sounds awkward, so I went with "chosen for"
Why was the articial turf criticized by multiple players?
Turf is generally not preferred by soccer players, and this is relatively common knowledge. The two sources I found for Qwest Field wrt the cup did not mention this directly, though, so it has to be omitted.
"the weather at kickoff was cloudy and 45 °F (7 °C)." - and the ambient temperature was
Done, but "air temperature" is generally used here.
"who collided with Omar Gonzalez and Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts. Ricketts broke his right hand" - Try not to have the last word of a sentence start the next one like this
