"Newer routers, hubs and switches (including all 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit devices) use Auto MDI/MDIX to automatically switch to the proper configuration"

My computer (MacBook Pro) does this too (very useful when connecting two laptops, don't need to haul around a special crossover cable for that), so the article should say "routers, hubs, computers and computers", right? I'm not a network professional or anything like that so I'm asking here before editing the article.--Devnevyn 08:08, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

routers are specialized computers, they are connected to switches using a straight through cables - so they can't be both MDI-X.

Routers for home use have a number of switch ports though - so they could be considered a very simple router connected to switch.

Here it says that MDI-X is a computer port.
