Little Switzerland (Lynton & Lynmouth) → Lynton and Lynmouth – As discussed (and almost certainly agreed) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Little Switzerland (Lynton & Lynmouth) to overwrite the present redirect. I tried to do this boldly but prior edits prevented me. In theory a non-AFD participant might object. Pinging AFD participants@The Parson's Cat, Andrew Davidson, and Crouch, Swale: When accomplished I'll start normal editing of the result along the lines proposed but would welcome other involvement. - Oppose The sole purpose of this move seems to be to expunge the Little Switzerland name. This does not seem proper because the AfD found that the title had some currency and it is the main focus of the article. It is not the only such place or page – see Little Switzerland (landscape), Little Switzerland (Luxembourg) or Little Venice – and the title seems to work fine in the context of the dab page Little Switzerland. - Not at all. The proposal is to keep the present contents about the area and its history and naming under the title Lynton and Lynmouth and to reinforce the notion it is indeed also called Little Switzerland. The material in Lynton and Lynmouth relevant to both of the two villages (such as the single town council) would be merged in. Were there not other "Little Switzerland"s then a new redirect "Little Switzerland" would be appropriate. As it is we should probably have a redirect Little Switzerland (Lynton and Lynmouth), or whatever, linked to from the Little Switzerland dab page. However, if the matter is in the slightest controversial (whatever the result of this request) I shall willingly back out of this. Thincat (talk) 10:30, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- My concern is that renaming might change the focus of the article. Currently, it's about the area as a distinctive beauty spot and tourist attraction. If the title is changed to be that of the current local authority, then the content might be changed to have a more boring, bureaucratic and recentist emphasis. The original creator, user:Shelleysho, also worked on pages such as Lynton, and so presumably had a vision in which they were separate. I don't think we should rush to judgement on changing the title before we have fleshed out the content and see where the sources take us. I'm learning quite a lot as I explore the topic and suppose that there's more to find. Andrew🐉(talk) 10:59, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

- Support or create the parish article then merge while there is a good amount of content and sources and the consensus at the AFD was that this shouldn't be deleted it seems likely that we should have the parish and "Little Switzerland" in 1 article. Per WP:NOTDIC there doesn't appear to be sufficient content about it to require a separate article when its an alternative/nickname for the 2 settlements. Although The 2 settlements both have standalone articles and I have leaned towards keeping them both separate it doesn't seem like we need this to and the parish article. - Support. Thanks to Thincat's efforts, we do have a reliable source for the idea that the Victorians referred to the area as Little Switzerland, and the poets' visits have never been in dispute; however, I agree with the sentiments expressed by Crouch, Swale.
