Image copyright problem with Image:Austen women in cricket.jpg edit

The image Image:Austen women in cricket.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Date of birth edit

Time to try and establish this for once and for all. A look at the page history shows it's repeatedly being changed and debated over; here is a better place for that. A few possible sources to start off with:

  • Independent 1 says she was 37 as of August 2007
  • Times 1 says she was 38 as of January 2009
  • but in November 2009 Independent 2 gives her age as 40.
  • Lastly IMDB (though not reliable) gives her DOB as 1970.

There are discrepancies between the newspaper articles that make me disinclined to use any of them as the basis for her year of birth. In addition, Times 2 states that Cohu herself goes out of her way to keep her date of birth hidden, "variously giv[ing] her age as between 38 and 41" - suggesting none of the articles can be relied upon.

If there's no more concrete source for this, I'd err on the side of removing it from the article altogether, at least until one can be found. Heefen78 (talk) 11:59, 6 April 2010 (UTC) I have traced a Lucy Anne Cohu being born in the last quarter of 1968 using public records, seeing as this is the only Lucy Cohu born within twenty years I would say it safe to assume her birth is 1968. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Torchwood1234 (talkcontribs) 09:45, 2 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Removing non-encyclopedic info edit

I've just purged a very large part of the "Background" section, and will continue on with the rest. I removed all of that information because it is simply not encyclopedic. We do not include personal anecdotes, detailed discussions about their feelings about their children, etc. Our information should be primarily factual, highlighting only opinions about the person that are central to what makes them notable. Wikipedia articles should not read like personal biographies or articles in popular magazines. If anyone thinks that something I cut out is particularly important, please let me know here and we'll see if it should be worked back in. Qwyrxian (talk) 14:00, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I also cut out the show by show review of her work. If there are articles that review her performance across a body of movies/tv shows/plays, then we could include one or two selective comments, but we do not try for an exhaustive list of reviews. Qwyrxian (talk) 14:14, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

half sister irrelevant to the entry edit

Miss Cohu does not have a daughter. I don't see there any reason why this and the name Lila needs to be put in over and over again as it is irrelevant to her career as an actress.

It's just vandalism--someone who thinks it's fun to add false info to Wikipedia. I'll try to watch for this one. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:18, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Maigret role edit

I have changed the sentence "She plays Madame Maigret in the ITV television series Maigret starring Rowan Atkinson" to "She played Madame Maigret..." as there have been no episodes since 2017 and thus it is not a current role as plays would imply. Dunarc (talk) 21:06, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
