All the networks I've checked for the UK are not community networks at all, they're al selling Internet access. KenSharp (talk) 01:14, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is not the place to list all community networks edit

I have once again cleaned up this article to remove all the external links. Read through WP:EL and WP:LISTCOMPANY before adding any more back to this list. In order for it to be included in this list it is required that a least one 3rd party reliable reference is included. Wikipedia is not a network directory for you to list every network ever.McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 19:06, 17 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lol. Why you deleted everything in [1]? For example, even links to networks which have their own Wikipedia page?Mitar (talk) 21:21, 1 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

RESPONSE TO RIDICULOUS RULES edit

By Didz

All networks listed in Australia are community organisations and do not sell Internet, they are run by volunteers and exist to serve the community.

Air-Stream is one of the longest existing and largest networks in the world and did have its own page on Wikipedia years ago but some moron deleted it. Now someone keeps deleting the entry in this list. So either figure out what you want because it is not fair that a page gets deleted then just having a simple entry in a list is also not good enough. Remember this is small groups and incorporated community organisations not corporate or commercial business. Some don't have the volunteers able to keep a Wikipedia entry up to date with silly expectations. The information provided on networks in Australia by me is relevant and current.

Instead of deleting content why not help create appropriate pages for those organisations.

Disclaimer: I am a member of Air-Stream. No member is paid or employed (including myself) by them.

@Didz: If what you say is true then somebody like a news paper, magazine or journal should have written about it. Relevance and current do not matter at this point you need to provide proof through a reliable source that somebody outside of your organization cares about it. If you can provide that here on this talk page I will add the name back into the list. At this point since you have a conflict of interest you should not be editing this article any further. The goal of this project to build an encyclopedia, not a listing of everything that ever existed, so to this end we have requirements for inclusion which WP:42 might help you with that. The requirements for a list inclusion for a company (this includes any organization) are much less, we only require one in depth coverage story by a reliable source independent of the topic. Even with that source we would still not allow for an external link directly to the companies website. To be clear none of the volunteers of these networks should be doing anything with the their network articles as they have a clear conflict of interest which may interfere with the encyclopedia goal. @McMatter: Thank you for your response McMatter

There may be more articles around that I am not aware of. Amazingly I remembered where the deleted page was (archive).

I don't consider it a conflict of interest. I am simply a volunteer like I am volunteering here at Wikipedia but I understand you seeing it this way. I would treat true information equally whether I was a member of any organisation or not.

@Didz:   Done I have added in Air Stream Wireless with the newspaper reference. Thank you. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:43, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Citation Issues edit

A lot of the Wikipedia articles here have no independent sources covering them. A good WP:ORGCRIT/WP:GNG assessment of these articles is needed. Allan Nonymous (talk) 00:38, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
