I think this still-unfinished article is redundant with the sortable list List of cities in Italy over 20,000 population (2001 census), except that this article includes English names for the cities and it apparently uses newer population data. --Orlady (talk) 05:44, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I am a little confused. The article cites http://world-gazetteer.com/wg.php?x=&men=gcis&lng=en&des=gamelan&dat=200&srt=pnan&col=aohdqcfbeimg&geo=-108 as its source. For Ancona that gives the following figures:

103,268 (census 1991)

100,507 (census 2001)

101,853 (estimate 2004)

102,245 (calculation 2008)

But you give the figure:

101,797

Demo.istat.it, the normal official source, gives:

101,480 (Jan 1, 2007) [1]

101862 (1 Jan, 2006)[2]

101,797 (1 Jan, 2005)[3]

101,545 (Jan 1, 2004)[4]

Where does that come from?

I used another source for the top 40 cities (that other source dint have 41 through 100, but none the less I forgot to cite it, but, if you feel the demo.itstat.it is better, by all means replace what I did. I think it was a bad idea to use two sources, perhaps they are of different years, anyways this weekend I will revise the entire list and use only the demostat thing that you mentioned. THanks for the advice.Jabbist (talk) 03:17, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

I am sorry, but I guess this page is outdated and not fully reliable. I suggest to delete it as now there is the more accurate one named List of cities in Italy based on 2007 Italian Government Agency for Statistics ISTAT data. Moreover, this list still refers to old Italian provinces name when associate Barletta to Bari province which is no more true. In my opinion this page should be deleted and all editing efforts should go to List of cities in Italy improvements. By the way, that article name was made in accordance with all other coutries similar pages as verifiable in Category:Lists of cities by country.

The article is outdated and now superseeded by List of cities in Italy which bears a more standard article name.
