Talk:List of television programmes broadcast by the BBC

Surely the name of this page is off? "Broadcast by BBC" isn't usage you'd normally hear — it'd always be "the BBC", especially considering "BBC" isn't a channel in and of itself, but rather operates a range of channels, BBC One, BBC Two etc and so forth. Angmering 06:46, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Many of the Programmes in the main list are/were produced by independent television production companies, so should the 'indie' list not be merged into the main one? Jt spratt 17:10, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes. And they originally were. This is a simple alphabetical list of programmes broadcast by the BBC. Joe D (t) 02:57, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't ONE Life be listed here? 22:29, 25 October 2006

Thomas the Tank Engine edit

Thomas shouldn't be in the list - it's an ITV show, only shown on the BBC in Canada. And its produced by a third party. Digifiend 12:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, the intro says 'produced for BBC TV' and that show wasn't. Removed. BillyH 17:14, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

BBC-produced, or just BBC-broadcast? edit

What's this list supposed to be? The intro says 'An incomplete list of popular BBC produced shows and shows originally produced for BBC TV' but the title refers only to broadcast. Can we settle on one or the other? --Oolong 18:24, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article Title and Duplication edit

Two comments: firstly, the title of the article does not match the remit of the article. For example, the title, "...Broadcast by the BBC", would allow for shows such as Heroes, Family Guy, Neighbours etc. However, the introduction states that the article is for those produced by the BBC; none of those I just stated are. If there are no objections, I'll change the intro to reflect that all BBC broadcast programmes are permitted, not just those produced for the BBC, as that is what the title implies. Secondly, there are a large number of children's programmes on this page, yet there is a whole article dedicated to children's shows on the BBC - that's duplication. I suggest that they're all removed from here, and a statement placed at the top of this article pointing to the Children's article. TheIslander 21:41, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

No comments for one week, so I'll go ahead and make the changes I proposed. TheIslander 16:09, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

BBC strongly implies that Horizon has been canceled edit

I am sad to read that the BBC strongly implies that Horizons has been canceled. In large letters at the top of the Horzions webpage, its website states: "Just to let you know, we're no longer updating this page" When you click "More Information here" you get this info:

We aim to make sure that all of the pages we publish on bbc.co.uk are as accurate, reliable and as useful as possible. Where a particular radio, tv series or other BBC event has ended we generally leave the related web page online, just in case visitors may find it helpful or interesting in future. However, in order to avoid confusion we add a banner notice to the page to make it clear that we're no longer keeping these pages up to date....

On the other hand, their website does provide a link to a list upcoming episodes. Are these repeats of older shows, or are they the last new Horizons episodes that will be made?

Or (hopefully) will the show continue in some sort? Can anyone sort this out? Thanks. RK (talk) 17:43, 23 February 2009 (UTC) Please discuss here: Talk:Horizon_(BBC_TV_series)Reply

Do Not Adjust Your Set - Not a BBC Production edit

Though it involved some members of the Monty Python team, this was not a BBC production. The British Film Institute reports that it was produced by Rediffusion for ITV between 26th December, 1967 and 14th May, 1969 in twenty-seven 25 min episodes over two series, along with two specials. Category? edit

Why is this page not done via a Category?  BRIANTIST  (talk) 10:56, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree, this gains nothing from being in a list rather than a category. Mhiji (talk) 19:02, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

BBC Classic Animal Tracks edit

BBC Classic Animal Tracks is a series of short, visually catching semi-documentary films about animals, each with a well-known popular tune. (This following text is from

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-Animal-Tracks-Wildlife-Juke/dp/B00008T6K1

Footage, from the BBC Wildlife archives, of some of the world's spectacular species with classic music tracks. Includes 'The Humming Bird' to the music of 'Albatross' by Fleetwood Mac, 'The Common Hippo' to 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' by The Hollies, 'The Lion' to 'Africa' by Toto, 'The Sea Otter' to 'California Girls' by The Beach Boys and many others.)

(Examples I've seen in Finnish TV: 'The Orang-Utan' to the music 'Swingin' Safari' by Bert Kaempfert; 'The Cheetah' to 'Golden Brown' by The Stranglers; 'The Tiger' to 'The One and Only' by Chesney Hawkes.)

Would someone know more (e.g. dates) and edit this to be an article? The subject can be compared to a discography, can't it? Harjasusi (talk) 13:36, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal edit

I'm proposing we get any information from the page List of BBC programmes and incorporate it into this, then get rid of the other orphaned page. Would appreciate opinion first! JoshuaJohnLee talk softly, please 20:37, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've carried this out. The other list seemed to be copied from BBC World News. Cloudbound (talk) 22:04, 18 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Let's subdivide this article edit

Given that there must be a huge number of programmes broadcast by the BBC (especially as this includes radio as well as television), would it not be sensible to sub-divide this so that we have separate lists for programme type, such as comedies or documentaries?Vorbee (talk) 16:14, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Big Life Fix edit

Should Big Life Fix be listed here somewhere? Aoziwe (talk) 08:32, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

"Current" programming edit

Why are series/miniseries that have ended/concluded included under the current programming section? – DarkGlow (talk) 22:45, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I agree, this is a bit odd. In the description for the "Current Programming" section, it states that series are listed there if they ended broadcast within the last year. However, they have clearly ended and I think it's better if all shows that have ended broadcast are moved to the former programming sections. Apd9696 (talk) 10:31, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Also, is there any need for the "-present" at the end of the dates in brackets? I get it indicates that the shows are ongoing, but the shows are already listed under current programming. Apd9696 (talk) 10:40, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Well lad, some of BBC series, including the co-production, such as Small Axe (with Amazon Prime Video, where John Boyega won the Golden Globes & most recently Critics Choice), Black Narcissus (with Disney's FX, also streaming on Disney+ STAR in most of the territories), and also Industry (with HBO & confirmed will be returned for series 2 ICYMI), has already aired on BBC networks. How come those already aired series didn't get featured on the "Current" programming? VernardoLau (talk) 17:00, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Tbh I totally forgot about this article and I haven't visited it since the last time I edited this page which was more than 6 months ago. You're more than welcome to move them to current programming by all means, edits like that are uncontroversial and you can do them as you please, no need to worry about checking w/ the talk page. Just looking at this article now and yes it is terribly out of date. I am quite busy right now to edit this page but feel free to update the article. APD (hmu) 17:54, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress edit

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:List of programs broadcast by FX which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 13:02, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Life in Colour with David Attenborough edit

I had notice that Netflix was evolved in co-production for BBC Two Life in Colour with David Attenborough, and it's ready to be released outside UK & Ireland on Earth Day.[1] So, should I include this title to the BBC TV Programmes?! VernardoLau (talk) 08:20, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
