Meaning

Many of these toponyms are derived from nearby geographical features, e.g. Å and Ås which mean “brook″ and “hill″, respectively, in all three Scandinavian languages. Would anybody object to adding translations to the list? DES (talk) 01:55, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

IJ

The Dutch river IJ could - should? - be listed as a one letter name - it is not spelled as 'Ij' but as a ligature: 'IJ'. See IJ_(digraph) 85.223.49.77 (talk) 02:59, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Яя

What about Яя, a town in Russia, and another in Belarus? Or is it not considered because it is 4 letters (Yaya) in Latin script? -Kain (talk) 03:19, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

If we allow Cyrillic script, should we allow Chinese script too? But then you'd pretty much include every place name in China, because most place names have only one or two Chinese characters. What about place names in Hebrew, which does not write out the vowels? I think this list only makes sense for place names in languages that use Latin script. Tsu?

What is this comment about "tsu" being the only one with one kana? How is Mt. "E" any diff? 66.105.218.25 (talk) 03:11, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Or how about the river under O? Often written with two kanji (the one for small and the one for river) or three kana (Ogawa, with 'gawa' being a variant of 'kawa', river), but could be counted as one because we would say the name of one of the major rivers of North America being the 'Mississippi', not necessarily 'Mississippi River' as one whole. Really, all these Japanese listings should be listed using the kana, perhaps in a separate section (non-Latin scripts), with the kanji and several romanisations listed along with that entry. Citation Needed: Ú, Madagascar

The letter U does not even exist in the Malagasy language and alphabet, much less an accented version of it. As a native of Madagascar, I highly doubt the validity of that entry and would like to see a valid source on it. Darhan (talk) 16:00, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

There's a village in Burundi called g, idk how I'm supposed to provide a source because Google maps is banned as a reference and, being a random village in Burundi, there is no information on it online.
