Other types section edit

I merged the list of sensor types from the article sensor and eliminated any over lap. However, before this merger there were no section headings. The remaining sensors under 'Other types' should be classified under a more appropriate heading if possible. Barkeep Chat | $ 14:50, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

So what "types" are valid? By process variable? By technology? By field of application? By date of invention? By name? Bear in mind that any particular sensor could fall into several different "types".
Further to the above, here's my first hack at organizing the list on something other than an alphabetical basis. I think this list should concentrate on devices that meet the definition in sensor and not talk so much about computer I/O systems, or measurement devices such as total stations or Dumpy levels - these aren't usually considered "sensors". --Wtshymanski (talk) 15:47, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merger with Speed sensor edit

Speed sensor lists a few types of speed sensors. Some of them are already listed here. I think it might be good to merge that list (which is not actually categorized as a list, or as a stub) into this one. I just don't know which section would be best for each. (You'd think they'd all go in "Position, angle, displacement, distance, speed, acceleration", but some are already in other sections and the others may fit better there too. Of course, we could decide to list some sensors in multiple sections.) PointyOintment (talk · contribs) 16:14, 27 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

"Sources" :-) edit

Somebody complains that "This article does not cite any sources". Is it really necessary with "sources" when almost everything in this list is a link to a Wikipedia article? In my view, if there were "sources" for everything here, it would mess up the clean list. Joreberg (talk) 14:23, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
