Criteria for inclusion edit
to prevent this from getting too indiscriminate, it's a conscious decision to limit inclusion to:
- professionals e.g. NSWRL/NRL, Brisbane Rugby League Premiership (until 1995) in Australia; RFL, Northern Rugby League, Yorks/Lancs senior competitions (pre 1903), in UK; equivalent leagues elsewhere; Cup, representative and international matches
- must have made at least one first-team appearance
- death must have occurred during a match or an incident during a match led to subsequent death within a reasonable period.
I'm aware this leaves out people like Adam Watene (died after a gym session), Ronan Costello (no first team games), Archie Bruce (not determined to be rugby related), Max Blakeley (amateur) or Jack Swell (death was several years later and the original incident wasn't the entire cause of death).
