I am moving entries from the main List of reportedly haunted locations in the United States here if they are

1. Sourced to an apparently reliable source
2. About a place that does not currently have an article on the place.

I think we should limit the main article page to locations that are notable and that actually have an article. However, I don't want to lose these entries, as some of these places may be notable, but no one has written articles yet. Later someone can go through this list and figure out what's notable and what isn't; and if any of these places get an article in the future, we can move these back to the main list.

Alabama

• The former site of the C. C. Pegues House on Pine Street in Cahaba is the location of numerous sightings of a ghostly orb in a now-vanished garden maze.
• The Harrison Cemetery in Coffee County is said to be haunted by the dancing ghost of Grancer Harrison.
• Village Falls Cemetery in Mulga, established in 1866, is the site of sightings of spectral figures hanging from a tree. The streetlights that surround this cemetery often turn off and on one-by-one.

Alaska

• One room of the Golden North Hotel in Skagway is said to be haunted by a young woman named Mary. There is also a report from guests about a strange light in another room.
• The bakery of the Historic Silverbow Inn in Juneau is said to be haunted by Gustav Messerschmidt.
• The Red Onion Saloon in Skagway is purportedly haunted by spirits of women who worked in the building during its days as a brothel.

Arizona

• Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center in Tucson is reportedly the site of paranormal activity, including toilets flushing all by themselves (no report about whether the toilets are automatic), the water faucets in the second floor bathrooms turning on by themselves, strange lights that appear and disappear in the building, and a spectral young girl playing with a ball.

Arkansas

• The Rush-Gates House was built in 1906 for a doctor to tend to his patients, and is now the home of the St. Francis County Museum. It is reported to be haunted by the patients who died.
• The Tilly Willy Bridge in Arkansas is notorious due to the presence of few car passengers ghost who were killed after they lost the control on their car and fell down the bridge. The trespassers have reported to experience their spirits moving around this bridge. Passengers have also claimed to encounter hand imprints that occur when they drive car past this bridge.

Delaware

• Addy Sea Inn in Bethany Beach is said to be haunted.
• Bay Oaks in Lewes is said to be haunted by a historical massacre between Dutch colonists and Native Americans.
• Dead President's Pub & Restaurant in Wilmington is said to be haunted by a former patron named "Lemonade" Mullery.

Florida

• Anclote Manor, Tarpon Springs was a well-known Florida resort called Upham House from the 1920s to the 1950s; visited by Al Capone and Swami Yogananda. In the 1950s it was sold and became the infamous Anclote Manor, a psychiatriac hospital with a checkered past of shocking violence. It was the site of numerous hauntings after the hospital was shut down in the 90's.

Georgia

• Hampton-Lillibridge House in Savannah has been referred to as the "most haunted house" in the US.
• The Hanging Grounds (off Padgett Road in Senoia) is said to be haunted by a Civil War executioner.
• Masquerade Nightclub in Atlanta is said to be haunted.
• The Cloister at Sea Island in Glynn County is said to be haunted, with lights turning on and off.
• Warren House in Jonesboro is said to be haunted by an anonymous soldier from the American Civil War.

Idaho

• Harms Memorial Hospital in American Falls is both a hospital and nursing home. It was named after Doctor Frank Harms. Many people died here from both medical conditions and old age during the 20th Century. The most common reported occurrence is that buzzers sound at the nurse's station when nobody is pushing the buzzers. Also, the buzzers in the restrooms sound when nobody is in them.
• The Joyce Building in Genesee is named for Sara Joyce who moved there with her family in the 1970s. The reports of haunting are from only Sara and her family. She claims to have experienced a variety of haunted events in this property, from full-body specters who hold conversations, to poltergeist-type pranks and activities.
• Lake Waha in Lewiston is allegedly haunted by an anonymous Nez Perce woman from either the 18th or 19th Century wearing buckskin sitting beside the water here. If visitors approach, she walks into the water and disappears leaving behind a whirlpool of white foam. Living adults from that same tribe stay away from this lake, although living teenage boys are sent here for their guardian spirit quest.

Illinois

• Hundley House in Carbondale, Illinois near the campus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale is reputed to be haunted.
• The Desoto House hotel in Galena is possessed by some unknown spirit. But ghost hunters and guests have claimed to notice a white cigar smoke and also, very creepy screams during night hours.

Indiana

• Avon Bridge near Danville is haunted by two ghosts. A man died with his face stuck in wet cement during the construction of the bridge.
• Elkheart Civic Theater in Bristol is said to be haunted by ghosts who send books and papers airborne off of shelves. One of the ghosts is a handyman that was evicted during the Great Depression and lived in the basement with his family. The other is a black-haired woman that has been seen by staff members.
• Stepp Cemetery in Martinsville is reportedly haunted by a mother who dug up her child's corpse and committed suicide.

Kansas

• Oxford Middle School (AKA the "5th and 6th grade center") in Oxford is supposedly haunted by a ghost named Anne Marie. Multiple sightings of Anne Marie have been reported in the now-closed school; she supposedly resides in the storage area in the balcony of the gymnasium.

Kentucky

• The cemetery of Free Union Separate Baptist Church in Adair County, Kentucky is said to be haunted by a father and his child. A young couple that attended this church claim to have seen a ghostly man holding a baby in a pink blanket in 1972. Later, they went to the where they saw the man and found the grave of a stillborn child and a 54-year-old man. It is thought that the man haunts the graveyard with his baby girl awaiting the death of his wife so they can all be together once again.
• Raven Hill Cemetery located between Madisonville, Kentucky and Earlington, Kentucky is said to be haunted. The grave yard is located on an old gravel road that rarely sees much traffic. It is said that there is an empty grave haunted by a blue light. This light follows people in the dark who cross its path. The story says that the person buried in this grave escaped and is looking for another person to take his place in the grave. There have been a few sightings of the blue light, but no recordings of a ghost attempting to push or pull anyone into an empty grave.
• The House on Coon Branch in Knox County, Kentucky, is a reportedly haunted house in a book by Montell Lynwood Williams of the University Press of Kentucky. Residents of this house reported that they "could hear things all through the night if you were awake." These noises were things in front of the fireplace, noises that resemble work in the kitchen, stove doors opening and closing, dishes moving, and pots and pans clanging. Ghostly presences were felt or seen on occasion. The sounds of items falling and hitting the floor were heard but when someone went in to investigate, everything was in place. Once the person left the room, those noises would recur.
• The Owens House in Barbourville, Knox County, Kentucky, is a Queen Anne house which was built by John Allen Owens in 1894. The house deteriorated to the point of disrepair and was torn down in 1977. Many supernatural occurrences have been detailed by the owners of the house and those who have stayed there. Various noises have been reported, such as dining room sounds and utensils on plates. Plates and knives are said to move around of their own accord. Animals avoid certain areas of the house. Animals would not stay in certain rooms for long and would growl at nothing. The ghostly figure of a woman is reported to haunt the house. This woman is referred to as the Gray Lady. She is seen wearing a white dress and surrounded by a red aura. The Gray Lady is speculated to be a sister of John Allen Owens, who died at a young age in 1901.
• The Royal Garden in Louisville, now a buffet style restaurant, is built over land purchased in 1975 from a large suburban estate with a hedge maze called the "Royal Garden". The estate had gone unoccupied since 1971, when several members of the Buechel family were exposed to large quantities of LSD and died of exposure wandering the maze. Though the investigation indicated neither malice nor motivation for the tragedy, rumors of lost and incoherent souls wandering RGB persist.

Louisiana

• Central Louisiana State Hospital in Pineville is said to be haunted by its former patients.
• Old Louisiana Penitentiary in Baton Rouge is said to be haunted by its former prisoners.
• O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Pub in New Orleans is said to be haunted.

Maine

• Captain Fairfield's Inn in Kennebunkport is supposedly haunted by Captain John Fairfield, who was imprisoned by the British during the War of 1812.
• West Side Lake in Skowhegan supposedly has paranormal activities occurring near the cabins.
• York Village Historical Museum in York is supposedly haunted by an anonymous 17th Century young woman who was hung in front of the building because she was accused of sorcery.

Maryland

• Engineered Piping Products is a Baltimore-based reseller of industrial pipe, valves and fittings. Its building is on the site of an old residential neighborhood and paranormal activity is reported at the site of the old Deboser home. A local paranormal group, Pasadena Paranormal, has logged more than 100 EVPs from this location. People have reported buzzing sounds that fly by their heads and one employee had his coat tugged from behind when he was in the building alone. This site has been submitted to the Syfy's Ghost Hunters Great American Ghost Hunt for their consideration.
• Middleton Tavern in Annapolis is said to be haunted.

Michigan

• Fenton Hotel in Fenton is said to be haunted by an anonymous man wearing a hat who sits at the bar drinking whiskey although he is not really there. Other paranormal activity includes disembodied voices, touches, and objects being moved by themselves.
• Murphy's Lamplight Inn in Central Lake is said to be haunted by a man and woman dressed in 1920s clothing with a little girl watching them dance in the bar area. There is also a spectral young bride who walks in the halls upstairs.
• Knock Knock Road is located along the strasburg road in Detroit. It is believed to be haunted by soul of a young girl who died in an accident.

Minnesota

• Forepaugh's Restaurant in Saint Paul is said to be haunted by a love affair between the original owner, Joseph Forepaugh and his servant, Molly.

Mississippi

• Cold Spring Plantation in Pinckneyville is said to be haunted by Dr. John Carmichael who resided in this area starting in the 1790s. Paranormal reports include the feeling of a specter watching you, and unexplained sounds of wine bottles, and the sound of a rocking chair swaying slowly back and forth in Carmichael's mansion cellar.

Missouri

• Henderson Mansion, 1016 Paseo in Kansas City, is believed to be haunted in relation to a murder that occurred in the mansion in 1978. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
• Ozark Visions, The Costume Shoppe in Lebanon on East 32 Highway is said to have many disembodied voices throughout property, including reports of a woman calling out the name "Peggy". Ozark Visions is open to the public year-round.

Nebraska

• Brother Sebastian's Restaurant in Omaha is said to be haunted by a spectral man named Bill Walden. He wears a tweed smoking jacket and ascot.
• Plumer Street House in Maxwell is said to be haunted by several apparitional children, all of whom died horribly within its walls, and at least one adult specter.

Nevada

• The Mackay Mansion in Virginia City, Nevada is reported to be haunted by the former residents of the mansion. The television series The Dead Files produced an episode on The Mackay Mansion to investigate the many haunting occurrences.

New Hampshire

• Gilson Road Cemetery in Nashua is said to be haunted by an anonymous black hooded figure walking amid the headstones.
• Three Chimney's Inn in Durham is said to be haunted by a girl named Hannah.
• Pine Hill Cemetery (also known as "Blood Cemetery") in Hollis is allegedly haunted by a family murdered in the 19th century. People have reported orbs, EVPs, and a mysterious little boy running out onto to the road to stop cars.

New Jersey

• The Red Mill Museum Village in Clinton (built in 1810) has several documented deaths that occurred there when it was a wool, talc and grist mill. These work-related deaths are believed to be tied to paranormal activity happening there. The mill was featured on an episode of Ghost Hunters.
• Domani's Restaurant in Roselle Park is reportedly haunted by its former owner who died in the building.

New Mexico

• Boyd's Sanatorium in Dripping Springs. Apparitional former patients and staff roam this defunct location. People camping nearby have reported nightmares of what life was when it operated as a mental asylum. Feelings of being watched and of general unease are reported by witnesses. Other paranormal activities include unexplained cold spots, feeling of being touched by unseen presences, light anomalies, disembodied voices and shadowy figures.
• Chino Mines Creek in Bayard. There is an older woman by this creek who cries for her son. The story is that she and her son were wiped away in a flood. She was a beautiful Hispanic woman who was poor and married a rich handsome man, but the man changed after they got married. He would go away a lot and wouldn't come back for long periods of time. He was apparently cheating on her. She was upset but didn't seek revenge in the usual way; instead of murdering him, she determined what would hurt him more was not to see his children ever again, so she drowned them in the river. At the last minute she regretted what she was doing, but by that time it was too late and they were dead. While running down to rescue them she fell and cracked open her head. This ghost is called "Llorna" which means crying lady. It is said that you can hear her crying all over searching the riverbeds for her children.
• Holy Cross Sanatorium in Deming started out as a military base in World War I and as a tubercolosis ward in World War II. Then a Satanic cult used it as a place for animal sacrifices. Only one building is left; the rest have been destroyed. Noises come from the top stories. A shadowy apparition is said to appear in "the altar room". A cemetery is located nearby in which a cross has been knocked down. Murders occur here quite often. There was a lover's quarrel with a drainpipe and a gang killing a peer for sacrifice.
• The Insane Asylum in Albuquerque is said to have paranormal activities including light anomalies, mysterious mists, disembodied voices, spectral former patients, the feeling of being watched, and the feeling of not being wanted.

New York

• Morris Jumel Mansion is said to exist between west 160 and 162nd street in New York City. It is known to be haunted by the presence of many malevolent spirits and a sequence of suicides have taken place here in the past.
• Mount Misery Road (New York) and Sweet Hollow Road in Huntington, less than a mile apart at their widest, are both subjects of local folklore, including tales of Mary's Grave (supposedly located on a cemetery on Sweet Hollow Road), a ghostly police officer with the back of his head missing, and ghosts from a burned down mental asylum.

North Carolina

• Lydia's Bridge is located in Jamestown, just outside Greensboro. According to the story, in the early 1920s, Lydia and her date were headed home from a dance. It was a foggy night, and in a hurry to get home by Lydia's curfew, her date lost control of the car and hit the Southern Railroad Underpass Bridge head-on. Her date died on impact, but Lydia, badly injured, managed to escape the car. She tried to flag down a passing car for help, but the driver mistook her for a hitchhiker, and she died by the roadside. There have been accounts of people picking up a hitchhiker in white, who says her name is Lydia. She gives an address and says she doesn't want her mother to worry and she needs to be home by curfew. Then she disappears before she reaches her destination. Lydia is also known as The Phantom Hitchhiker; The Lady in White; and The Vanishing lady. Lydia's Bridge is now abandoned, but U.S. Highway 70 used to run under it. Now High Point Road, it was straightened and a new underpass was built a few feet away in an effort to make the road safer.
• The Museum of Ashe County History, in Jefferson, occupies the century-old building that had been the county courthouse. In the summer of 2010, a college intern working alone in the building on the main floor heard a telephone ring on the second floor and saw a person walk across the floor to answer it.

North Dakota

• Old Luger Hotel in Fort Yates is said to be haunted by a semi-transparent apparition of an anonymous little girl.
• Saint Joseph's Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson has paranormal activities reported by employees from many areas at this hospital. The elevator to the morgue runs up and down by itself; disembodied moaning and voices are heard in the cafeteria; and call buttons are activated from empty rooms. Other paranormal activities are spectral laughing and the sound of running footsteps have been reported in the basement.
• Sage Hill Bed & Breakfast in Anamoose is said to be haunted by an anonymous former superintendent of a school who leaves a smell of cigar smoke. Other paranormal activities include black shadows that stream past an observer and can be glimpsed from the corner of the visitor's eye, disappearing items, and cold spots.

Ohio

• Twin City Opera House in McConnelsville has 14 spirits who reside in this 1892 structure. Full body apparitions, thousands of EVP's, and a black mass are often seen.
• The Old Licking County Jail in Newark, an old 1889 gothic fortress, was the site of 16 deaths and is said to be haunted. In 1910, a liquor agent named Carl Etherington was beaten by an angry mob and lynched on the town square. Some prisoners have been released, but others have never left.
• The defunct Lima Correctional Institute formerly known as the Lima State Hospital for the Criminally Insane and its graveyard are purported to be haunted.
• The defunct Lima State Hospital for the Criminally Insane is rumored to be haunted.
• The Moonville Tunnel in Ohio is said to be haunted by the spirit of a drunkard who got crushed under a train crossing by. Locals have reported to see his mystical apparition and also, his hand waving a lantern during midnight hours.

Oklahoma

• The Labadie Mansion in Bartlesville is reportedly haunted by the spirits of original owner Frank LaBadie and his wife, Samantha, whom he murdered on April 1, 1935.
• Timberidge Cemetery in Catoosa is said to be haunted by an anonymous Native American boy's ghost, who lost his life in 1989 in an auto accident while he was riding his bike on the road here.
• The McBride House in Fort Gibson has reports of being haunted by residential specter from the 19th century.

Rhode Island

• In Exeter, there are a few buildings formerly known as the Ladd School, a school for the mentally disabled that was founded by Dr. Joseph H. Ladd in 1907 and officially closed in 1994. The school reportedly mistreated students, and there are stories today of ghost sightings of the children who suffered, noises, and electronic malfunctions. The Exeter Job Corps Academy was built over the Ladd School's ground, with many of the older buildings still intact and reportedly "haunted."

South Carolina

• The Jacksonboro Light is a phenomenon that has been reported by many witnesses in the vicinity of Jacksonboro. In the late 19th century, a preacher in search of his missing daughter was struck by a train while searching for her by lantern at night. Witnesses report seeing the swaying lantern light and the outline of the deceased preacher along Parkers Ferry Road at night when a train whistle sounds.
• The Legare Street House in Charleston is said to be haunted by James Hayward. He was the son of a widow from the American Revolutionary War.
• The Old Tuberculosis Hospital in Greenville is said to be occupied by spirits of deceased patients and the prisoners. Visitors have reported to hear disembodied singing here during night hours. People have also claimed to encounter shadows floating around the construction.

South Dakota

• Alex Johnson Hotel in Rapid City is said to be haunted.
• Old Hospital in Pine Ridge is said to be haunted by ghosts of little Oglala Lakota children running all over.

Tennessee

• Mysterious Mansion in Gatlinburg is a simulated haunted house that has been in existence since 1981. There is a local legend about an anonymous seven-year-old girl who fell off a hotel balcony and drowned in a creek near this area in the 1880s. Her ghost points up from the creek near where she fell and cries for her mother two weeks before the anniversary of her tragic death.
• The Sheraton Read Hotel in Chattanooga is reportedly haunted by the ghost of Lisa Netherly, who was murdered by her husband as she was meeting her lover for a secret tryst. She is said to haunt her former room and to jump into bed with male guests who check in alone.

Texas

• Miss Molly's Bed & Breakfast, Fort Worth, of the Stockyards of Fort Worth, is said to be haunted. There are rumors that every building in the Stockyards is haunted, but the reports are heaviest for Miss Molly's, which is considered by some to be one of the most haunted places in Texas. The hotel was built in 1910 and it has gone through several transformations, including as "speak-easy" named The Oasis during prohibition and a bordello in the 1940s named Gayatte Hotel, which was operated by a Miss Josie. Today the Star Café is on the bottom floor and Miss Molly's Bed & Breakfast is on the top floor. The building has been confirmed to be haunted by spirits that do not know they are dead.
• Catfish Plantation Restaurant in Waxahachie is a restaurant that has been featured on television shows as one of the most haunted places in America. The haunting supposedly dates to the building's past as a house. There are reports of apparitions, various aromas, objects being moved, and people being touched.
• Haunted Hill House, Mineralwells is a 120-year-old house 250 feet from the famous Baker Hotel, now a paranormal research center. The house has been investigated by many paranormal groups and all agree the house is haunted. The main entities are a little boy and an old lady who watches over him. The house experiences intelligent hauntings, residual hauntings, and visitations from Baker.

Utah

• Clearfield Job Corps Center in Clearfield, once part of an old naval base, is said to host four anonymous specters: A girl about five years old who bounces a ball in the hallways; an RA who likes to try to check "students" (visitors) into their rooms; a specter who has not been identified, and in Dorm L a nurse in old-fashioned garb. Reports say the movie theater area used to be a morgue, and it is said to be haunted as well.
• Gray Cliff Lodge Restaurant in Ogden. Apparitional Native Americans and an anonymous disappearing man wander here. Witnesses have also noticed spectral children's voices and doors and windows that mysteriously close by themselves.
• Kiwanis Park in Pleasant Grove is said to be haunted.

Vermont

• Averill Stand Bed & Breakfast in Wilmington is said to be haunted by ghosts of former occupants, possibly a woman who died there in childbirth and another female ghost that is occasionally seen by guests in the dining room.
• Carbur's Restaurant in Burlington is said to be haunted by an anonymous man who shot himself by putting a gun in his mouth in the basement.
• White House Inn in Wilmington is said to be haunted by Martin Brown's wife, Clara, and their anonymous maid.

Washington

• Cascade Job Corp in Sedro-Wooley is said to be haunted.
• Manresa Castle in Port Townsend is said to be haunted by a newlywed woman named Kate Eisenbeis and a monk who hung himself in the attic.

West Virginia

• The Booth House in Harpers Ferry, is a reportedly haunted location in Harpers Ferry approximately 200 years old. It has ties to the Underground Railroad, John Wilkes Booth, the US Civil War, and more than 12 deaths. It is a popular site for ghost tours, haunted overnights, and paranormal workshops and also used for paranormal research.

Wisconsin

• At Rinehart Theater in Ashland, paranormal reports from staff members include disembodied footsteps in the costume area. Cast members have described seeing doors opening and closing by themselves, inexplicably, particularly during performances. One source said that an actor observed a toilet flushing on its own, without explanation. An apparition has been reported in the stage area. One group of actors reported that one day upon their arrival, they found three lit candles on the stage arranged in a triangle around a rose.
• Saint Killian's Catholic Cemetery in Lake Geneva is said to be haunted because of its historical Satanic worship. Paranormal activities include a ghostly priest, a ringing bell, strange noises and footsteps, and mysterious mists.
• The Scott Mansion in Merrill is said to be haunted by a curse due to the death of Jenny, a 19th Century Native American chief's daughter.

Wyoming

• Shoshone Bar in Lovell is said to be haunted by a man named Ted Louie who was a candy salesman and the subject of a nationwide man hunt in the 1940s.
