Why coal? edit

It is May 28 2023, a sunny sunday. According to Electricity maps, the Netherlands are producing 11 Gigawatt, mostly from wind and solar, over 8 GW combined. And they are exporting a lot, over 4 GW to Germany, and 650 MW to Norway. Yet, about 424 MW of coal power and 1,47 GW of gas power are also added to the heap. Why isn't coal power shut down for good for days or weeks in summer? Makes no sense to burn it when the sun is shining. Matthead (talk) 12:32, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
