Talk:List of participants in the coronation procession of Elizabeth II

Birth/death dates, images etc. edit

The third column in the table currently includes birth and death dates for the people listed in the second column, and sometimes pictures or other notes. In my opinion, most of this is irrelevant to the article and is not really needed; if someone wants to know more about a person mentioned on this page, he or she can follow the link to that person's article. If there is no objection, I propose to remove the third column. Alkari (?), 9 July 2011, 22:18 UTC

Seeing no comment here, I've gone ahead and removed the birth/death dates, pictures, notes on offices and peerages held later in life, and so forth. If this seems unwarranted, of course, please feel free to revert and discuss here. Alkari (?), 13 July 2011, 21:30 UTC
I was just thinking what a very welcome addition those birth and death dates would be!!12.144.5.2 (talk) 17:44, 12 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Correction needed edit

There is an inconsistency - According to his Wikipedia page, Sir Thomas Walter White died in 1951, so could not have carried the standard of the Commonwealth of Australia at the 1953 Coronation... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.103.195.151 (talk) 09:40, 18 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Chancellors edit

I noticed that while the Garter Chancellor (the Earl of Halifax) was present in the "Officers of the Orders of Knighthood" procession, the Thistle Chancellor (the Lord Elphinstone) was not. Can this be somehow explained?--The Theosophist (talk) 11:00, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am speculating, but he might simply have been too ill or infirm to attend. He was 83 years old in 1952, and died three years later. Newyorkbrad (talk) 22:20, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Or just too old to process in heavy robes. I doubt wheelchairs were acceptable in 1953. See Lord Rolles at the Coronation of Queen Victoria. Johnbod (talk) 23:26, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress edit

Confused edit

The introduction implies that this list relates to a procession "through the streets of London" but it appears to be the procession inside the Abbey and includes elements that were not part of the procession to and from the abbey. MilborneOne (talk) 10:01, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
