Questionable list at best

More than 50% of the videos listed here contain nudity which is blurred, obscured or completely blocked out. The descriptions are also vague enough to engender a false concept of what is show (such as the R.E.M. song depicted "topless females dancing".) Other videos with non-obscured nudity such as "Allentown" by Billy Joel are not listed at all. TheGoonSquad 04:43, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

This article was a Article for Debate candidate because it was very poorly sourced. The Refimprove tag states that edits can be challenged and removed if not accompanied by a citation. Additionally, just because an article appears on Wikipedia doesn't mean it can be used for the citation or as a reference. Inclusion criteria

This is not an article, but a stand alone list, with a short introductory paragraph. With nudity in music videos becoming so commonplace, the list has already become unwieldy, including numerous examples which may be true, but are not notable. There are no obvious inclusion criteria for this list, which is becoming an indiscriminate collection of information "merely being true, or even verifiable, does not automatically make something suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. To provide encyclopedic value, data should be put in context with explanations referenced to independent sources."

Manual of Style/Stand-alone lists - selection criteria states "Selection criteria should be unambiguous, objective, and supported by reliable sources. In cases where the membership criteria are subjective or likely to be disputed (for example, lists of unusual things or terrorist incidents), membership criteria should be based on reliable sources."

I, therefore, suggest the following eligibility criteria for consideration, in ascending order of strictness:-

1. The song covered by the music video must already have its own article, not a redirect to an album, or to the artist
2. In the case of songs covered by several artists, the version in the music video should be notable enough to have its own section in the song article
3. The music video, and the nudity, should be covered, not just mentioned, in the article
4. The nudity should have met WP:42, receiving significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject

IMHO we should include all four criteria, but if this is felt to be too onerous, we could start by implementing the first three. Arjayay (talk) 15:37, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

It looks as if this article started out with a dozen or so examples, e.g. 22 November 2006 revision, that although bulleted were presented with more context than the current, and often laconic, notes under the 'Nudity discription' heading. I agree with Arjayay, the embedded list has over the course of time turned into a stand-alone list per definition. Considering we have had a {{refimprove}} tag sitting for four years I'm going to boldly prune unsourced entries per WP:BURDEN. Moreover, i think this article should have far more coverage of the meaning, cultural significance, and purpose of nudity in music videos—a few examples should be sufficient to achieve that purpose; to me, the tables seem wholly excessive. Perhaps the article could be accompanied by a more holistic list of music videos containing nudity (still according to the above criteria), but i think the primary focus ought to be the nature of the trope, not a laundry list of its appearances. Missing videos

Funkytown by Lipps Inc shows areolas of a dancer through a transparent top. I'm So Excited by The Pointer Sisters shows the vagina of one of the singers as she is getting out of the bath. Toy Boy by Sinitta shows part of one areola as Sinitta is singing. One of the two videos for Breathless by The Corrs shows a side view of the breast of one of the group, around the one-minute mark, including a sizeable portion of the areola.
