Maryland in the South?

If you click on the link it takes you to a page with an accurate map, which is based on the US census, so I don't think this would change anything. The region is clearly defined, and there is a source for it. Mattximus (talk) 03:10, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

When people read "Maryland is a state located in the Southern United States." without a foundational knowledge of US census, they will probably think the statement is wrong and some may try to "fix" right away. But you may say these people shouldn't be editing articles that are tied to the framework of the census in the first place.Aithus (talk) 06:05, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

Not sure exactly what you mean, Maryland is commonly known to be in the Sothern United States (not just because it is considered Southern in the US census). It's below the Mason-Dixon line which I would say is the most common colloquial definition of the South in America and beyond. I would even venture to say few people would NOT consider it part of the South. Clicking on the link in the first sentence of this article shows a nice map and description. Is there a reason that the vast majority of towns and cities on this list are recorded as having zero population as of 2020?
