Inclusion criteria edit

What are the inclusion criteria? Do you follow a list? I think this should be mentioned in the lead. --Muhandes (talk) 05:33, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I tagged {{linkrot}} for bare URLs. If you are going to use http://www.lighthouse.net.au extensively I can templatize it for you. --Muhandes (talk) 05:45, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Coming back to the inclusion criteria which was not addressed yet, Evans Head Light and Brush Island Light were recently added to the list. While they are with no doubt existing lights I doubt they should be included in a list of lighthouses. I believe a short, totally automated concrete hut, with a lamp on top is not worthy of mention. That's what List of Lights is for. I cannot think of good criteria out of the hat, but how about a practical criterion? To be listed a lighthouse has to be listed in at least one of the following sources: Lighthouses of Australia, SeaSide Lights or Directory of Lighthouses. --Muhandes (talk) 16:01, 3 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

OK, that's fair enough. I can see your point, as you say "a short, totally automated concrete hut, with a lamp on top is not worthy of mention", and I would have to agree with you there, although it functions as a lighthouse, it itself is not a lighthouse. I think the criterion you describe is suitable. CybergothiChé (talk) 16:14, 3 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Very well. I mentioned it somewhere in the text and removed these two. --Muhandes (talk) 17:35, 4 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Lightvessels edit

Should lightvessels have their own section, either above or below the list of lighthouses? or should they be included in the list of states? CybergothiChé (talk) 10:58, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'd say put them in the states, and make a note that it is a lightvessel --Muhandes (talk) 12:41, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

"built" column edit

Does the column "built" stand for the year in which the station was established? If so, it should say "Established" (this is in my opinion the best option). This also appears to be the case in some of the lines I checked. Another possibility is that it stands for the year the current building was built. Another is that it stands for the year in which the current light was lit, often years later. No matter what choice is made, this should be clarified. --Muhandes (talk) 06:56, 2 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Beacon tower edit

Maybe the beacon tower of The Hill, New South Wales could be mentioned? SignedJohnsonL623 (talk) 02:37, 21 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
