Big empty table edit

Why do we have a big empty table? When filled out, will people want to compare the establishment date of the local police departments for some reason? Unless someone says different, I may get rid of this table someday. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 00:39, 10 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

@PaulinSaudi: I am planning on filling it out, however; I haven't had a chance to yet. I will sit down in a few days and do it then.~ Matthewrbowker Poke me 19:46, 2 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
May I propose that a table is not really called for? I am overly proud of the page List of Law Enforcement Agencies in Pennsylvania as a model.— Preceding unsigned comment added by PaulinSaudi (talkcontribs)
(for me: List of law enforcement agencies in Pennsylvania) I disagree, as the table will provide more information than that simple bulleted list. ~ Matthewrbowker Poke me 16:54, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
YOu may want this cite. Beware, there are many mistakes in Alpha-order, double entries and even entries for towns with no real PD. [1] Paul, in Saudi (talk) 17:21, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
@PaulinSaudi: How about this, then? I'll copy the current coding of the page into my sandbox then revert it to a bullited list version. Beware, though, that I merely copied the contents of the list and added the table manually, so the same issues still exist in the bulleted version. ~ Matthewrbowker Poke me 19:57, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Wait! I did not express myself clearly. I have not examined your work, and so I did not mean to say there were problems with it. The link I provided to you above is the one with the problems in alpha order, dupes and so on. The site I cited is exhaustive, mentioning many small town department, but must be treated with caution. Please forgive me for being unclear. There is no need to undo so much work. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 01:41, 4 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

@PaulinSaudi:Thank you for clarifying, that helps me a lot! I was a wee bit confused as to what you were talking about.

I am intending to sit down and source and include information into this table, however; I am having some trouble finding the time too (I am a full time student with a part time job). This is why the table is empty. I was intending to completely fill it out, and I still do.

Do you think it would be best to temporarily restore this article to the bulleted list, and I can work on sourcing a version of this article in my own user sandbox? Or shall we leave the table on the live article? I am not proposing removing the work, instead; using my user sandbox to give myself more time to find sources. Does that make sense?

Thanks again, I'm sorry about the confusion. ~ Matthewrbowker Poke me 20:17, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Honestly, I would prefer no table. I would prefer this page looking like the other such state pages. I question why we would want a table that sorts the police departments by their year of establishment, number of policemen and whatnot. On the other hand, trying new things is important. Since nobody but me shows the least bit of concern, I propose you play with it here until you come to a conclusion. What say we decide together at the end of the year? Paul, in Saudi (talk) 01:54, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Thank you. ~ Matthewrbowker Poke me 20:37, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

@PaulinSaudi: Unfortunately, school got in the way of my Wikipedia time, and I have been unable to make the changes to the table like I would have liked. I have a copy saved, so you are welcome to revert to the bulleted list unless you have a better idea. I'm sorry about that. ~ Matthewrbowker Give me a ring! 02:21, 31 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

OK, I will get to it when it bubbles to the top of the "to do" list. If you like, you can do it. I appreciate your kindness in this matter. Remarkable how little interest there is in these pages. I think they are important.Paul, in Saudi (talk) 06:12, 31 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
