Talk:List of highest-grossing Pakistani films

Dunya News is the most unreliable reference. They keep running fabricated stories. It should not be used as a reference point in this article. edit

Domestic gross figures : How about inflation adjusted ? How about inclusion of the classic films of 50s through 80s? edit

I think that an inflation adjusted list alongside inclusion of Historically big films like Aaina, Anjuman, Armaan and Dewar Bhabhi, Mera naam hai Mohabbat, Sharafat, Insaf aur qanoon, Zeenat, Chakori, Bandish, Kubra Aashiq, and Do Aansoo etc. is very important for the completion of this list.

I'm working on it, you'll see it complete soon, plus it is nearly impossible to add old films because no gross earning is available on any sourse — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kashiflatif90 (talkcontribs) 09:31, 30 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Loolywood and Karawood edit

These are not official names of Pakistani Film Industry, and these names are frowned upon in the film fraternity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.33.248.188 (talk) 00:10, 17 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

A list of inflation adjusted grosses edit

I also find that it's important to add a list of inflation adjusted box office totals should be added for the films from 50s, 60s and 70s. Though they recorded the number of days for which the film was in cinemas in those days, but an estimate can be made from those and can also be inflation adjusted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.33.248.188 (talk) 00:08, 17 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Source problems edit

A bunch of questionable sources were deleted by me as non-reliable sources, then re-introduced by Pakistan01 without explanation. I have re-deleted them and will expound on my edit summaries here.

  1. Brand Synario (brandsynario.com) states at their "about us" page [1] that they are a self-described PR platform and furthermore disclaims the top 10 writer's article as personal opinion: "Disclaimer: The views expressed solely belong to the writer..." This is not an admissible source for sales figures.
  2. Facebook fan groups can not be considered admissible sources for sales figures.
  3. Box Office Detail (boxofficedetail.com) is not a RS, see WP:RSN#Boxofficedetail.com (permlink). They have disclaimed their own data this way: "Numbers Provided Here Are Unofficial and unconfirmed".

The third source listed above was the most cited in the article and probably is the most problematic. There really is no way to verify these figures, the person writing about them, where they got their data, and even if they are writing directly for the film production companies. I hope that this does not result in editwarring. - Brianhe (talk) 22:33, 17 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Highest grossing film 1998 and 2002 edit

According to the Express Tribune In 1998 our industry released Syed Noor’s Choorian which managed to gross around Rs180 million. In 2002 Javed Sheikh’s Yeh Dil Aap Ka Huwa earned around Rs200 million. [2] So where did this article come with the claim that Choorian grossed 20 Cr? There needs to be some introspection done here. --PAKHIGHWAY (talk) 15:49, 4 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm working on it to provide reference with all of them, you can see it plus it is nearly impossible to verify old films because no gross earning is not available on any sourse — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kashiflatif90 (talkcontribs) 09:31, 30 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
The gross earning are easy to find. Maybe you are blind. --PeshwarWarrior (talk) 21:39, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Should this article exist? edit

Does this article even belong on Wikipedia? I only ask because it comes up most days in the pending changes queue. First, if the article is doing what it says on the tin, it needs to be updated day by day whenever the latest blockbuster is showing, going against the idea that Wikipedia is not news. Second and more fatally, the article introduction itself states that there are no reliable sources, and if the information in the article is inherently incapable of being verified, what is it doing here?: Noyster (talk), 19:35, 25 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Earning statistics for films prior to 1998 edit

We should try and get information of films that were released prior to 1998, especially during the 60s and 70s when films were doing quite well. I'm sure we're going to find some surprises. For example, 1995 Jeeva by Syed Noor did quite well as did some movies in the 1980s. I'm going to try and look for sources (Dawn archives) and see what I find. --PAKHIGHWAY (talk) 16:26, 26 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

exaggerated Business figures. edit

Some user are constantly showing the business figures contrary the sources they provides.. like Parwaz ha Junoon, Load wedding yields 35 crore and 13 crore receptively however the numbers here are shown very high, which is a clear flaw.--Baltistani (talk) 15:00, 7 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
