Consulates in other cities edit

I tried to put down the consulates of each country that are present in other cities, but it doesn't quite work out. There are almost 1,200 consulates in the US and the list just looks like endless words on the page. I think its better just to leave the links to the available references rather than filling this page up with a 1,200-item list. epicAdam (talk) 06:54, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I disagree. It doesn't look so bad if you put in columns. This is a list, after all Purplebackpack89 (Notes Taken) (Locker) 18:52, 21 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Correlation vs. Causation edit

An IP user removed the following claim: "Due to its traditional population of European immigrants, it has consulate-generals from 22 European countries." After reverting, User:Purplebackpack89 added a reference showing the reported ancestry of Chicago residents in the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey. The source does not, however, say that many European countries have consulates in Chicago because of the high number of immigrants from those countries. To say otherwise would be a logical fallacy. If Purplebackpack89 can find a source that says specifically that many European countries have consulates in Chicago because of the high number of European migrants, then fine; otherwise, the citation fails WP:V. Best, epicAdam(talk) 19:48, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

In addition the citation fails because the figures are for ancestry, and the contention was explicitly about _immigrants_. It also fails to show that Chicago's population is anymore traditional than anywhere else. Finally a close look at the figures shows that Chicago's Danish population is really small. 75.22.198.150 (talk) 13:25, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Libya edit

moved Libya to not full diplomatic relations based on CNN report: "The Libyan government said Aujali no longer represents Libya and named the charge d'affaires as ambassador. The United States, however, has refused to recognize the newly-named ambassador."[1] Slowking4 (talk) 17:43, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

An update: The U.S. has granted official accreditation to the new NTC ambassador from Libya, who has reopened the Libyan embassy on Virginia Avenue. [2] Best, epicAdam(talk) 15:06, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Missing embassy? edit

Something is amiss. There are indeed 176 embassies listed. However, where is Syria? It is not on this list. However, it is included in the article List of diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C., which also says there are 176 embassies. Yet the count on that list is 177. So what is the error?    → Michael J    01:45, 23 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

It needs to be corrected because the embassy was ordered to be closed by the state department and the diplomats were expelled. Maybe a note should be added that the embassy was closed. - SantiLak (talk) 19:02, 23 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Embassies to the U.S. not in Washington, DC? edit

There ought to be a section of foreign embassies to the United States not located in Washington, DC. This includes a number of small countries whose permanent missions to the United Nations are also accredited as their embassies to the U.S. It may be a typo but one of the sections on this article is "Embassies to the U.S. in New York City," which proceeds to list permanent missions to the UN.

Since there is a lot of comprehensive data and lists in this article, it's only natural there would be a section for embassies to the U.S. not located in Washington, DC. Thoughts? Thanks! Wingedbeaver (talk) 22:54, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sort edit

I would like to be able to select the way some lists are sorted. For example:

This list of conculates "Other cities with diplomatic missions" is sorted alphabetically by city. I consede that, if you mist choose only one way, this is the better choice for the most people. However, I believe it is possible to let me "SORT BY" [state] (for example or, population or, number of consulates, etc). I have made this suggestion on this page only but, there are many, many pages where I would appreciate this option. I hope you might elevate this issue to the Wikipedia community in general. Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:199:4300:3208:25C4:1B53:AB88:8CCD (talk) 14:44, 30 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Consulates edit

I believe the consulates section in Los Angeles New York City in Wikivoyages needs editing. Things look a little outdated and might be missing some countries' consulates. 5:43, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
