How is depth measured? edit

Is depth measured from the mine entrance, or from sea level? This should be clarified in the list criteria. Hadron137 (talk) 01:45, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • The Empire Mine mentions an incline depth of 3400 m. How does incline depth compare to depth below the surface? Hadron137 (talk) 03:56, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Also, Deep sea mining techniques have mined 3700 m below sea level. Should these mines be included as examples of "deepest mines"? Hadron137 (talk) 03:56, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

List criteria edit

There is some ambiguity about what this list includes. Is this only for active mines, or non-operational mines too? What if they have filled with water, collapsed, or otherwise sealed? A paragraph to specify inclusion criteria is needed. The criteria should also specify a minimum depth for this list, otherwise it's open-ended. Is there a significant depth that should be used, like an accepted geologic boundary or historic example? Hadron137 (talk) 02:32, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

It should also be made clear that bore holes and oil wells aren't included. Hadron137 (talk) 03:43, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Done. I added my best effort at an inclusion criteria. Please feel free to edit/modify as appropriate. Hadron137 (talk) 00:03, 11 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
