Back channel bridges

I was wondering whether people cared to include bridges over back channels -- that is, bridges that go to an island in the river, but not all the way. There are several of these to Neville Island just below Pittsburgh. Any opinions?

Pennsylvania section

I think "Ohioview" is a mistake. There is an "Ohioville" in Beaver County, but outside of Ohioview Avenue in Ambridge I'm not aware of any other "Ohioview" in Beaver County. Squamate 02:39, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Ordering of connections

Since West Virginia holds claim and ownership of the Ohio River along its borders, I suggest that Ohio River bridge crossings between West Virginia and Ohio first list the West Virginia side going to the Ohio side. If this was originally done to keeps things West to East and South to North, then fine. Otherwise, I suggest the change be made. Thanks. Mphamilton 20:43, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

My original intent when listing the cities was to go South to North or West to East. I haven't checked recently to confirm that all crossings are held to this standard. However, I've recently begun to think that a greater consistency could be achieved if the locations were listed with the left bank first, followed by the right bank (left bank is defined from the persepctive of a ship sailing downriver). "False" precision

I suggest, Dan, that you compare your coordinates with mine where you actually look at the resulting maps. Mine are closer to the mark than yours. I suggest you revert your changes. Denimadept 01:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm not suggesting that my coordinates are more on the mark than yours, and if there are coordinates that need to be tweaked, then such corrections should be made. What I'm suggesting is that including decimals in the degree seconds is overly precise and could be misleading. Providing whole numbers for the seconds provides a location precise enough to view the structure in question.

Additionally, the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Geographical coordinates shows whole numbers used for degrees, minutes and seconds. VerruckteDan 23:43, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

The important thing is that, IMHO, my numbers pinpoint the bridge and yours don't. If you don't want to submit numbers as precise as the ones I do, that's your call. However, don't throw my work away. I saw fit to provide such numbers. It's not for you to toss them. If the dms numbers are not to your liking, I might use d instead, even though they don't look as nice. Denimadept 01:47, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

A New Bridge!
