Talk:List of beaches in Oregon

Latest comment: 1 year ago by Dismalscholar in topic Does not include all the beaches in Oregon, as claimed

Not all are ocean beaches edit

Interesting how not all of these are ocean beaches. For instance Broughton Beach is on the Columbia by Portland International Airport (presumably named after the Broughton who first explored the Columbia that far inland), and Westport Beach is on the Columbia in Clatskanie.

Might be good to separate these non-ocean beaches out into a different section, to make that clear.

On a related note, I was also wondering whether a default sort based on coordinates might be good, so that the north-south order is more readily apparent? -Pete (talk) 04:44, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Agreed: I would have thought there would be quite a few more named river and lake beaches. Come to think of it, I lived by one of the few Willamette River beaches in Portland for 5+ years. I don't think it has a name; checking, USGS topo maps has no indication.
I'm not sure why they should be separated. Granted, I had a slight bit of preference for that when I started the article, but the urge has subsided with the realization that they are all just a legitimate a beach as any other.
Perhaps they should be default sorted by longitude so the non-ocean beaches are at the bottom? —EncMstr (talk) 05:40, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Does not include all the beaches in Oregon, as claimed edit

I know of Rockaway Beach and Neahkahnie Beach, neither of which are on the list, and since I don't know many of the Oregon Beaches, I assume there's more overall.ADFS78 (talk) 16:13, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

McPhillips Beach north of Cape Kiwanda, Nedonna Beach by the Nehalem Bay south jetty, and Bayocean Beach north of Cape Meares are also missing. This list should include every beach that has a numbered access point -- there are 197 numbered access points though some beaches have multiple access points. Thinking of access points, this article should have a list of those by number. I'll see if I can find one.Dismalscholar (talk) 18:04, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
