List of anime series by series total episode countList of anime franchises by episode count – The current title is unclear and the scope of the list must thus be determined by reading the lede. By contrast, the proposed title, while perhaps not perfectly descriptive, does clearly communicate that the scope is whole franchises rather than individual series, and does so in a fairly clear and concise manner, while better paralleling the naming of the preceding list of anime series by episode count and list of manga series by volume count. --Relisted. walk victor falk talk 15:47, 8 April 2014 (UTC)--Relisted. • Comment is this a "franchise" or is it the "series of series" listing? (ie) Gundam is a multicontinuity franchise, would you total every episode together, or would you break it up into each series-of-series? And how would this list treat remakes/reboots? -- 70.50.151.11 (talk) 06:30, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
    • I don't actually know; to be honest, I actually hadn't considered those cases. Also keep in mind that this requested move is my first interaction with this article, so I don't know the intentions of the other editors, either. Your point does complicate the question of choosing a potentially "better" name, though, and I don't have any good answers. To that end, I've tagged the lede as needing clarification. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 13:22, 26 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
    • It is a "franchise" listing not "series of series" listing. All the episodes in all series, films, OVAs, crossovers, even Reboots and Remakes of a particular franchise are included. See the note with Pokemon and Doraemon on the page. All series of Pokemon and all reboots, remakes of Doraemon etc. are totalled. Even Pokemon is multicontinuity but all episodes are totalled, we are not breaking it into "series of series". There is a separate article - List of anime series by episode count for that. So I do not see any problem with moving this page and I think the prescribed title is perfect. King Of The Wise (talk) 09:20, 28 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
      • So this would include the live action remakes (ie. PGSM, YUA, Hell Girl, etc) and the foreign remakes (ie. several Korean ones, both animated and live action, and American remakes) ? -- 70.24.250.235 (talk) 05:14, 30 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
      • No it will not. Pay a close attention to the title, its "Anime franchises". Your first argument - the live-action remakes, does not comply with this. They are not anime. The same goes for the second thing - international remakes. They are not Japanese and thus not anime. So none of these will be and neither are they included. But I don't know how this concerns the moving of the article. I mean this is not a question of what it would or should contain but that the current title is inappropriate. And if you say that by changing name to anime franchise these and these things should be included, I think that under the present title nothing should be included since it only says the total episode count of a particular series but contains films, OVAs and what not of the complete franchise. The difference in title from List of anime series by episode count is only the addition of total! that does not mean anything. The title is not stating that the list is by all things contained in the franchise, just all episodes of a series. It is completely inappropriate. In simple words the current title means - "List of animes by the total no. of episodes in the anime" which is completely similar to the other title. I think this should be changed as fast as possible. It is clear, even the lead itself says so, that the article contains everything in the franchise. So even if you say that on changing the name to franchise, everything in the franchise will have to be and should be included, than even if the article remains the same with just the title changed, it will still be much, much more closer to being a list of everything in an anime franchise than being a list of all episodes, just episodes, of an anime series which is what the current title is implying. So please, just change the title, just move it. I don't see why we must wait any more.King Of The Wise (talk) 13:29, 30 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • (almost Strong) Support - This article definitely needs to be renamed and moved. The current title is literally confusing and in no way does it well define the scope of the list and it is difficult to tell what the list is about and how it is different from List of anime series by episode count. Therefore as User:Dinoguy1000 says, one has to go through the lead (this is the correct spelling, not lede) (sorry my mistake :( ) to understand all this. So in short the present article title is definitely confusing and I am in Strong Support that the article should be moved to the above prescribed title. As the IP editor above said, it might pose some problems but I don't think the article is free from those problems even in its present state. Plus, some problems will always be there because of the nature of this article. Still the new title is still pretty much better than the present one and therefore this article must be renamed (moved) to the above prescribed new title unless an even better tite is thought of. • Support for the reasons above, although i've always contested the idea of having such type of lists in the first place. Lucia Black (talk) 20:19, 12 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Space Battleship Yamato edit

Was thinking of adding Space Battleship Yamato, and goes over 200 episodes if one includes Star Blazers, but I'm unsure if it's counts as a repurposed English dub or as its own distinct anime entirely.

Edit: Ended up adding it as Robotech is counted for Macross.
