Low pitched edit

Could someone please add a meaning for this term to the article? MarnetteD | Talk 19:25, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sourcing edit

The source for Film Superlist is reliable and can be used. However TV Tropes is not reliable since it's a website anyone can edit and they don't list where information comes from. -- Green 23:59, 6 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Public Domain Movies Vault edit

Is the Public Domain Movies Vault a reliable source? Here's the link to the page: http://www.retrofilmvault.com/publicdomaincartoons/index.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.155.152.65 (talk) 18:47, 6 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 16 July 2018 edit

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Danski454 (talk) 19:02, 16 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced entries edit

This list attracts SPA and IP editors who add entries with no sources. I tried adding "citation needed" tags but they never get resolved. I am now deleting every unsourced entry as soon as it posts. Likewose they often WP:HIJACK a source, those also will be deleted. I've left inline comments so as not to waste editors time. -- GreenC 18:40, 8 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Is it the same for the UK? edit

I love vintage cartoons and would like to know if the cartoons that are PD in the US are also PD in the UK, where I live. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.26.16.23 (talk) 19:47, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Susie the Little Blue Coupe edit

While looking to verify if the short had been renewed, I discovered that it's copyright was in fact not renewed. However, I did discover that the music in the short is still under copyright by Disney. Is there any way to note this on this page? Or should it just be listed on the main page of that short? MonkeyBBGB (talk) 03:22, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Seems like I may have found the copyright renewal for it here. MonkeyBBGB (talk) 04:46, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Added government shorts from Disney edit

I have added the shorts produced for the government from Disney to the list. They automatically don't have copyrights. 99.118.208.232 (talk) 06:35, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please read the top of the page:
Films published before 1929 are not included because all such films are in the public domain
This is for later films which might be in copyright but due to some unusual circumstances have fallen into the PD, which is why ever single entry needs to have a reliable source. -- GreenC 06:43, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, being made for the government doesn't make it automatically PD. Need a source that says so. We can't assert it without a reliable source. -- GreenC 06:51, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's valid, but the majority of them I obtained from that list are on the external links section of Walt Disney's World War II propaganda production. I thought Wikipedia would not link to those shorts if they are still copyrighted, as that's WP:COPYVIO. 99.118.208.232 (talk) 08:05, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Maybe they are PD? I don't know. The files were uploaded to Internet Archive in 2013 by someone named "Jilly" from poetryhut.com with a comment "if you intend to make $ or otherwise profit from these files, please consider making a donation to a veteran's charity of your choice and/or Archive.org itself." Obviously, this is not a reliable source for determining the copyright status. -- GreenC 02:41, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Festival Films edit

https://www.fesfilms.com/ .. I don't consider this a reliable source for determining the PD status of a film. It's a commercial reseller of DVD collections. These sort of companies often claim PD status on flimsy claims in order to sell product. They have a conflict of interest. -- GreenC 18:48, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

A few other PD cartoons not listed, but surely there is a source for them edit

Pantry Panic (Walter Lantz, 1941)

Doggone Tired (MGM, 1949)

To Spring (MGM, 1936)

Jerky Turkey (MGM, 1945)
