Talk:List of airports in the United States by passengers boarded

Merge proposal edit

When I created this page, I wasn't aware that the "Busiest Airports" entry existed. However, while the information overlaps, it's not redundant in form or overall content. More information is available for the top 20 airports, for instance, than the whole list of primary airports. Cg-realms 14:35, 18 October 2007 (EST)

The information is actually different - the other list is of busiest airports by international traffic, while this one is for all traffic. Thus, this list has Atlanta first, and the other one has JFK. john k (talk) 03:48, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposal to Rename edit

I think the page should be moved to: "Busiest airports in the United States by total passenger traffic". This title is far more appropriate since the current title is misleading, in that the article is not a list of all the airports in the United States, but the title suggests that. Also, the year of the data should not be included in the article title, since the page is likely to be updated in the future with more up-to-date statistics.

Proposed merge:

  • Support. A similar list for airports in the UK also has a similar title to the one proposed above. Changing the name also makes the page much easier to find. 007bond (talk) 01:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. I created the page to fill a gap in the information as currently presented; since there was a list of airports by international traffic, I thought there should also be a list of airports by total traffic. The title was invented at random. If the proposed title is more standard and easier to find, I'm all for changing to to it. –Cg-realms (talkcontribs) 0:52, 14 June 2008 (EDT)

JFK figures edit

I'm confused by the figures in the two table for JFK - they seem to be almost the same (around 21 million), and yet the first is supposed to be for passengers on all flights, whereas the second is for international only. According to the JFK Airport article itself, the airport has many millions of domestic passengers, so these figures don't add up. SteveRwanda (talk) 12:45, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I second that question - came here to ask the same. The upper table's for 2006, and lists 'boarding'; the lower is for 2005 or 2007, but I guess that shouldn't be the difference. Maybe transit passengers are not counted in the upper table? But these do 'board' their flights, normally... Classical geographer (talk) 07:11, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Out of date? Merge? Delete? edit

  • I tagged this page, but I see that the List of the busiest airports in the United States is updated, and that it links to this page as a "List of the busiest airports in 2006." That other list might make this page extraneous. Should this page be updated, kept as a record of 2006, or deleted/merged? -Kgwo1972 (talk) 14:45, 10 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
