Does this page need to exist? edit

To put a hold on this edit war, I'm launching this discussion. I don't think this page really needs to exist. The generation info can be preserved by moving it to List of Presidents of the United States by date of birth D O N D E groovily Talk to me 02:51, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, if there be a mention on names of generations in article "List of Presidents of the United States by date of birth", then it would be OK. But there is no mention about names of generations in that article. Only Zodiac signs and other matters are mentioned there. Place presidents listed by names of generations there and I will agree with you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.127.11.74 (talk) 07:33, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • The table at that page is a sortable table - because of that, I think it makes more sense to list the generations and associated years above the table and allow users to sort by birth date if they want to view it that way. I don't want to mess up the sorbability of the table. To add the generations and have it look as nice as the non-sortable table we have here, would probably require breaking the sortability. With birth years already there and the table sortable, I'd rather just list the generations and their years.
An alternative is to merge it to Generations (book). I think this might make a lot more sense. This list is much more relevant to the theory presented in the book than it is to the presidency. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 03:50, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Do as you like but preserve this list "by generation" on some page, in some wiki article. One thing I don´t understand: Why does this list "by generation" annoy you so much ? Order of presidents by generation reveals us many interesting things. Change of generations in case of Eisenhower-Kennedy in 1961 or Bush Sr.-Clinton in 1993 etc. Names of generations help us more than zodiac signs to comprehend the historical era a president lived in and each this historical era forms his attitudes and political decisions. It is complex matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.127.11.74 (talk) 14:58, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
