Overhaul edit

@Somatochlora: Looks great! IPNI and PWO report that Symphyotrichum cusickii (A.Gray) G.L.Nesom is now a variety of Symphyotrichum foliaceum: Symphyotrichum foliaceum var. cusickii (A.Gray) Lesica. See http://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/981797-1 --Eewilson (talk) 23:50, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I removed it. Are you interested in adding the sections for subgenus Virgulus? --Eewilson (talk) 02:08, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I'm a little reluctant to include those subclassifications as I haven't seen them used anywhere except Semple's website (unless you are aware of others?). I think we should wait for secondary sources for that kind of thing. The sections already present are those used in FNA. Somatochlora (talk) 14:43, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Well, it seems like I saw them somewhere else... let me check on that. --Eewilson (talk) 17:43, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Okay, Nesom handled them within his reclassification of the species into Symphyotrichum in 1995 (BHL Page 272 begins subgenus Virgulus). However, I think some that he describes are not on the Wikispecies page, so I'm trying to track that down. I believe documented and accepted work has been done since 1995, perhaps by Semple or Brouillet and Semple. I was looking at this just this week and I think I was satisfied why, but I apparently wasn't thorough enough to add the source to the subgenus page on Wikispecies (sigh). --Eewilson (talk) 18:02, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
I've come to the following conclusion: it's not settled yet. :) You could use what is on Wikispecies, which appears to have what's most up to date. Or just leave it at the subgenus level as you have done. --Eewilson (talk) 19:03, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Image for S. lateriflorum edit

@Somatochlora: I've been working a lot on the Symphyotrichum lateriflorum page. The previous main image on that page (the one you put on the list page) kept bugging me because it didn't look like any calico aster I have seen in person or on iNaturalist. It may be an image of one, but I didn't think it represented the species well enough to have on the page. I'm going to use the main image from the page to change it to that on this List page. :) --Eewilson (talk) 19:08, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Done. --Eewilson (talk) 19:11, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
