Most games managed edit

Set up a table of the most games managed in the premier league. Put a cut off point of 300 to avoid to many additions. I think I got them all but I may have missed some

Current managers under 300 are:
Mark Hughes with 257 (147 Blackburn, 54 Man City, 38 Fulham and 18 QPR.
Tony Pulis with 152 (all stoke)
Martin Jol with 150 (112 Spurs, 38 Fulham)
Alan Pardrew with 133 (38 West Ham, 19 Charlton, 60 Newcastle)
Roberto Martinez with 114 (all Wigan)
Roberto Mancino with 98 (all Man City)
Roberto Di Matteo with 77 (63 West Brom, 14 Chelsea)
Brendan Rodgers with 38 (all Swansea)
Paul Lambert with 38 (all Norwich)
Andre Villas Boas 27 (all Chelsea)

Following managers close to 300 but not currently in Premier League:
Joe Kinnear - 288 (270 Wimbledon, 18 newcastle)
Alan Curbishley - 287 (266 Charlton, 21 west ham)
Gordon Strachan - 273 (179 Coventry, 93 Southampton)

Legend (and I don't mean Brian Clough). edit

I created the grey selection in the Legend, for those managers still in charge of their teams but who have been relegated out of the Premier League. If this is not a useful distinction, kindly go through the table removing those I so labelled and delete the row in the Legend table. Don't change the Legend text to the inaccurate "Previous Manager". That doesn't accurately indicate what status the grey managers have. Silas Maxfield (talk) 21:53, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Criteria for aggregate tables edit

We need clear criteria for the aggregate tables (number of managers by club and by nationality). For instance, the total for Italy (9) is the total number of spells in charge by Italian managers, whereas the total for the Netherlands (4) is the number of unique individuals from that country who have taken charge. In other words, Roberto Di Matteo has been counted twice (WBA and Chelsea), but Ruud Gullit (Chelsea and Newcastle) only once. We need to agree on criteria, make those criteria clear and apply consistently. --Jameboy (talk) 17:52, 29 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would think two columns would suffice, 1 with number jobs/positions held and the total individual managers. Thus Portugal would be 4 and 2, Wales 13 and 6. 19:12, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

I may say that I've added the odd manager here, and I noted criticism today from other editors for not updating the aggregate table. I admit that I'm not really interested in doing the adding up, but strictly speaking the list of managers is a historical fact backed up by successive news stories, whereas the aggregate tables amount to OR. If it was "my" page, I would take out the nationality table or manager count or game count. What are the sources for the count of games? Anyway, I probably won't edit here again.Silas Maxfield (talk) 23:15, 29 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

My criticism was nothing to do with the nationality table. It was aimed at the updating of a single stat, ignoring all the rest that could have been done at the same time and not changing the 'updated last of...'. Its not this page I was angry with but many others were people simply pick and choose editing. Xenomorph1984 (talk) 00:17, 30 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Mauricio Pochettino/Argentine Managers/Appointments. edit

In the Talk Section, there is mention of managers with under 300 PL games to their credit. MP should appear somewhere on that list. As of 5/11/17 he has managed Spurs in 125 PL games and about 1.5 seasons at Southampton making him about 180 PL games. In addition, in the box headed "By Nationality", there have been three Argentinian managers having had four appointments46.7.195.132 (talk) 14:07, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Errors edit

There appear to be several errors in the statistics table in this article.

If I have counted correctly, there are 370 appointments listed.

The table of appointments by country totals 351. There are clear errors: e.g. there have been 2 managers from the USA (Bradley & Wagner) but the table says 1; there have been 3 individuals (4 appointments) from Argentina, whereas the table says 2 (3).

The appointments by club totals 349. Again, there are obvious errors: Watford have had 5 managers, but the table says 4.

The tables need to be carefully checked or removed, rather than perpetuate these errors. 92.26.172.4 (talk) 14:45, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for bringing this up. I admit I do forget to update this table, but I will remember in future to update the statistics. I shall check through the list shortly and update the details accordingly. Bbb2007 (talk) 20:19, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Eamonn Dolan edit

Eamonn Dolan is missing from the list, he's included on the List of Reading F.C. managers as a caretaker for one game in March 2013 [1]
