Sheltering Institution Names
When I completely overhauled the List of Chapters section, I used the current version of the name for each sheltering institution. This information was taken from:
1.) the information provided in the chronology appendix in the Centennial History;
2.) the information provided in the National Directory; or
3.) institution's web site, which I only visted after finding that the name I originally entered did not point to an existing Wikipedia page.
I would suggest that the convention of using the current name of each institution be maintained and that older names not be included in the table in order to avoid clutter. Also, most Wikipedia pages for institutions include a naming history. Michael07lu 21:49, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Chapter Historical Information
Insofar as this article is designed to be an encyclopedic reference containing basic information on all of the chapters of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity (namely the chapter's name, sheltering institution, date of installation, and years of activity), historical information about individual chapters, such as the circumstances of its installation, deactivation, or expulsion, should not be included. The footnotes at the end of the List of Chapters section is meant to provide explanations about the naming of chapters and other national actions taken regarding a chapter (e.g., expulsion). While historical details about each chapter may be interesting to note, they go beyond the scope of this article. Furthermore, the addition of such details would make the article hard to organize and hard to read. Michael07lu 16:21, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Links to Chapter Web Pages
I am deleting all links to chapter web pages. This article is designed as an encyclopedic reference listing of all chapters of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, not a repository of chapter web pages. There is no way to verify that the pages linked to from this article are "official" or approved by either the chapter or the Fraternity as representing them. Also, making chapter names into hyperlinks clutters up the table and makes it harder to read the superscript footmark notations. Though not always up-to-date, "official" chapter web pages are listed on the Fraternity's "National Directory" located at http://www.sinfonia.org/Directory/chapbystate.asp.
