Deletion of well-sourced information edit

Editor Citing deleted the following:

* Sarah Jeong, Editorial Board

1. The employee is blue linked
2. The entry is well-supported by a WP:RS, namely the BBC, which confirms the emmployee is a new member of its editorial board
Quite frankly, it is incredible that in an article with the template "this list is both incomplete and out-of-date [...] Please help improve this article", people randomly delete data that helps complete the list, in violation of WP:PRESERVE. As the deletion is entirely arbitrary, it will be reversed, unless there are objections. XavierItzm (talk) 00:26, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Strange that you use that source instead of one that is titled "Sarah Jeong Joins The Times’s Editorial Board".Citing (talk) 02:39, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Note: Per WP:BLP#Non-article_space I've removed an inappropriate citation for this page, particularly because of the totally unnecessary quote. Permalink here.Citing (talk) 03:02, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Your citation is a press release. You actually removed the BBC as source, which is what I had, and you put a press release. Nice. XavierItzm (talk) 04:31, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Consistent with WP:PRIMARY, when the issue is sourcing for one specific fact that is the focus of a press release and the press release is the authoritative source for the fact, it is better to source to the press release than to source from a secondary source that has taken the press release and embellished it. The Times' corporate website is the proper source for New York Times personnel announcements, at least where it has them (it is not comprehensive). jhawkinson (talk) 05:39, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
The BBC citation was far, far from a secondary source that had "taken the press release and embellished it." Cheers, XavierItzm (talk) 06:55, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
