Publisher edit

Is the publisher column really necessary? For me, it wastes the article. The publisher can be easily checked using the link to the article. Piotrek54321 (talk) 19:08, 20 February 2011 (UTC) Stop beeing a moany fuck its not doing any harm and its usefull information. 77.102.52.40 (talk)Reply

Uno and Mechwarrior edit

I think these two games aren't going to be available at any reasonable time or anymore won't exist on this platform. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dualshock03 (talkcontribs) 16:23, 18 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Age of Empires Online edit

AOEO had a physical release as well, for $20 if memory serves right, it came with a few exclusive in-game items as well. As a result, should the listing here be changed to account for that since currently it has a X for Retail Disc? --Elven6 (talk) 23:08, 24 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • It's not a disc, but a card with the keys for download in the GFW Marketplace. Making this a dubious in-between.

Unconfirmed titles edit

While Capcom community manager Sven is reliable for specific information, you cannot use the very generalized statement that "Capcom foresees using GFWL in the near future" to assume that the yet unreleased titles like RE6 will use GFWL. Until specific information that attaches the two are there, this is original research. --MASEM (t) 13:05, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've once again looked for any confirmation from Sven on the Capcom forums, I've not found any sources and using "Sven" as proof without a source isn't evidence. If they're confirmed as Games for Windows - LIVE via press release, official cover or even confirmation from a Capcom representative on the forums/credible news site then the titles can absolutely be confirmed and added to this page. Until we have reliable sources can we please stop adding unconfirmed titles to this page. Smeldridge (talk) 16:50, 22 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Acronym definitions edit

The "Live Features" column uses a couple of acronyms which aren't defined anywhere in this article or in the main GFWL article. I don't know where they'd best fit in the article, but for anyone who cares:

SSA: Server Side Authentication

Server Side Authentication (SSA) is a free piracy protection service. SSA associates access keys with both a product and a Gamertag, binding a game to a LIVE account. Through this process, the game can confirm with the LIVE service that the user has a license for the game and, if not, can deny that user access to the LIVE service thereby limiting play to offline only. This is beneficial for single-player games as it enables you to tie any functionality you choose to the availability of the LIVE connection and potentially tie the entire game (including single-player and offline portions) to SSA. SSA requires an internet connection.

ZDPP: Zero Day Piracy Protection

Zero Day Piracy Protection (ZDPP) is a free service to help mitigate piracy prior to launch. Through a simple tool, the developer can encrypt their game, or portions of their game, such that they will be non-functional prior to the launch date. ZDPP requires one-time access to the internet to check whether the launch date has passed.

Column for whether game is being modified for closure of GFWL? edit

To me, it would make sense now to add a column showing the official status of each game with regard to the closing of GFWL in 2014. Data of interest would be whether the game has already patched out GFWL or whether the publisher has announced it will be done, what system they are moving to if any (Steam, etc), what features will be lost (multiplayer, etc). Supertin (talk) 00:46, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I believe no developer/publisher has announced what is to be done with their GFWL-enabled games as of yet, so I think it would be best to wait and see before committing any changes right now. --CoolingGibbon (talk) 13:34, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
News is starting to appear. 2K Games have hacked GFWL from Bioshock 2 now (Steam no longer states it as a requirement, various news sites say it has happened, previous GFWL only DLC has moved to Steam). Batman Arkham City has some evidence that it's also having GFWL removed, but nothing official yet as far as I can tell. If a few more join the list, a column stating their status will be helpful and won't look out of place. 220.233.76.4 (talk) 06:30, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Bioshock 2 and Batman Arkham City were indeed updated to use Steamworks instead of SSA.

Xbox Gamerscorre edit

Wikipedia is not a collection of any and every type of information. Gamerscore and Xbox Live features were removed from similar lists due to being WP:GAMECRUFT, the fact it was apparently overlooked here and isn't listed on Microsoft's website doesn't change that. And wouldn't Microsoft's own lack of documentation show you how meaningless it really is? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 17:08, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
