- Yes. The Chaldeans have faced some violence in the past, especially since the war. There has been indications that Tariq Aziz, who was Chaldean, gave them occasional protection under Saddam. Although this is an area of dispute as many things he said indicated a disdain for his birth community. Still violence against Christians is one area even some Pro-Bush Republicans have been upset by the Iraq war. Unlike the majority Muslim population Chaldeans occasionally run stores that sell alcohhol which angers, some, among the Muslim majority. On religious issues I believe the Chaldeans are Assyrian Christians in communion with the Catholic Church. They're an Eastern Rite Catholic group. Outside of Iraq one of the largest concentrations of them is in, I believe, New Jersey.--T. Anthony 22:41, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
