Talk:Like a Boss

Latest comment: 3 years ago by Glen in topic Fuck the Law by Dead Prez

I modified the structure of the article a bit. Since the song itself and the video that was released for it have differences, I split up the information accordingly. It now addresses the question the other person here had about the vocals on the audio track vs the voice of Rogan in the video. We will be adding a new section soon about the controversy of a lawsuit and also citing some additional information. Feel free to comment if anything else is needed. We are going to start looking at making this article better and filling it out with better citations and additional information. Planned is citations for the controversy and lawsuits filed on The Lonely island for this song. Also restructuring the main section to talk about the song itself and then the video. The previous person here made a good observation, on the audio version Seth Rogan is not doing the interviewer vocals, info will be added about that. Any other thoughts or opinions on how to make this better?Bvbudha (talk) 04:15, 8 July 2014 (UTC)bvbudhaReply
What do you think is needed to make this article better.... Who is the other voice on the song on the CD? It is pretty has to find out who the other voice is, what if it is zach gregger doing the whole track?? It's not Seth Rogan, it sounds like Zach Cregger?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.5.150.66 (talk)

Sources for censorship edit

Seriously? Go to their official Youtube channel, they have both versions uploaded. It can't get more reliable than that. --2.245.230.116 (talk) 03:38, 19 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Fuck the Law by Dead Prez edit

I cannot find a source for this but to listen to both songs side by side Fuck The Law by Dead Prez and Like a Boss. They're obviously very similar beyond question. Both are lists of outrageous things, same verse metric and flow with the callback at the end of the verse. Dead Prez's song was released before Lonely Island so it's a fair assumption to think it was an inspiration for Like a Boss.

I apologise for attempting to edit this into the article and triggering filters. I didn't know how to do it properly. May I phrase my edit differently? Would "It shares similarities in verse flow and thematic attitude with the song Fuck The Law by the group Dead Prez, released in 2003"

I think this is important to make this connection because of the popularity of the song, and the plagiarism controversy, when it's clear that it is more inspired by Dead Prez than Slim Thug yet the former did not approach this belligerently or at all, plus I think they're both very cool songs to know.

Antoniodlp, this seems to be original research. Unless it's written about in a reliable source it's unlikely to warrant inclusion. Glen (talk) 13:03, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
