Speedy Deletion

Oppose You will find many legitimate articles on war dogs in Wikipedia. Lex is just as notable, if not more notable. If anything, the article could use some help by someone making it larger and including more information on Lex that can be easily found on the many news articles or news reports that are linked in the references. --JAYMEDINC (talk) 13:44, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

"Work for Marines"

I've changed "Military service" to "Work for Marines", as a matter of NPoV. I think i understand the analogy that may have been made in the public debate, and i think that analogy is emotively valuable and, within limits, morally correct, but it is the kind of PoV that we describe as being advocated but do not report as fact. "Military service" has a precise meaning defined by law and bureaucratic protocol, and putting the former heading up ignores the only objective standard we have for the applicability of the term. If this is hard to grasp, remember for a second the widespread contempt and anger with the slogan "Support the Troops -- Bring them Home", and imagine in that light a self-described peace activist, or even a pacifist, claiming with similar logic that their vigils outside recruiting stations -- or even 1970s sit-ins to block induction centers -- are "military service just as much as wearing the uniform in Iraq". What makes that PoV is not who's saying it or the direction of their intent, but its playing fast and loose with the very objective meaning of "military service". There are probably similar lapses of terminology (i put the first use of "adopt" into quotes, for instance), but a section heading is pretty high visibility and IMO more urgent that cleaning up those within the prose.

"HECO" barrier?

I noticed on the description for the primary image in this article, Lee and Lex are described as sitting on a HECO barrier. I believe that HECO may have been a misspelling of HESCO, but I am not personally familiar with this kind of equipment and wanted to verify if this was truly an error before making changes.
