Incorrect information edit

New research (2010) suggests that this is incorrect information. These languages are not the same. See:

Al-Fityani, K., and Padden, C. (2010). Sign Language geography in the Arab world. In D. Brentari (Ed.), Sign languages: A Cambridge survey. New York: Cambridge University Press. Retrieved from: [1]

and

i agree with what is said above, i can add the study from Kinda Al-Fityani and Carol Padden [3] (pages 8-12). Ѕÿϰדα×₮ɘɼɾ๏ʁ You talkin' to me? 17:43, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Padden (2010) is quite primitive, simply making comparisons out of dictionaries, and using a rather silly definition of "cognate". Nonetheless, she still notes that Jordanian and Palestinian SLs are close. Determining whether they are dialects or not would require intelligibility tests, which she did not perform. She made naive comparisons to the %age of cognates used to decide whether to call oral languages dialects, but the numbers are not equivalent to the %ages in SL dialects. I looked at it when I created this stub, but there was nothing worth citing. I think I looked at Al-Fityani & Padden as well, and there wasn't much substance relevant to this article in that either, but I'd have to reread it to be sure. — kwami (talk) 04:26, 7 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
