Fighting Style

It should be listed as Comnmand Sambo, because that is how it is taken from the manual, which is often more specific than the in game content. It is likely that about half of the information in the DOA articles comes from the manual rather than the games, as Tecmo uses them as a means to transit extra game and storyline information.--Alfador 03:36, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

Similarities to Brian

I was playing DoA2:Ultimate recently, and saw his fourth costume. It made me think of Brian from tekken, who he resembled quite a bit in that particular costume, and with his hair. Any thoughts on this? 216.250.5.64 21:37, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

This is just plain and simple LIES, leon in the movie fought like an idiot who's style differed completely from the game. Also I know without doubt the Leon I wanted, wouldn't have lost to the ugliest girl in the movie(not to say that any of them are attractive).

The BJJ style is focuses on using leverage and posistions to win while using little to no moves that require exceptional strength. So the only BJJ-esque move that leon has is an armbar and MAYBE his <- -> Grab BUT only until the 2nd input after which it turns into a brutality thing.

BJJ DOES NOT include headbutts, uppercuts, Ground&Pound, punches in general, axe kicks, straight kicks, rising kicks, low kicks all of which leon has. I'd say that he has less in common with BJJ than not so I'm removing this baseless point until someone can prove otherwise.-LordQuwit 12:40, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

While I can understand the criticism of Simac, judging by community boards that reacted to the movie, Simac's performance was one of the few points of praise for the film. Leon is my favorite character as well, and in a perfect world, we'd get a film all about him, but sadly, Simac's work will have to do for now. Anyway, saying that 'Simac's portayal has been praised by fans' is a general enough statement to qualify for the wiki.

I also have to disagree with you about the BJJ comments. Leon's greater emphasis on grapple techniques and counters against quicker, strike heavy fighters has left him with a system that very strongly resembles an combination of sambo, krav magaw and Brazilian jiu jitsu. There is some more dirty stuff than what you'd see in competitive BJJ, but the techniques are there, especially in moves like Leon's mount punch grapple, which BJJ students learn in their first three months. He also has roughly eight more grapples and counters that roll him into an arm bar, which is pretty much the bread and butter of BJJ. Bayman's move list for similar inputs, as of Dead or Alive 4, takes his grapples in a different direction, with lots of neck breaks. So I'd say that was a fair comment.
