Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on March 8, 2010.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the prominent Hindu Ganesha cave temple at Lenyadri is located in vicinity of about 30 Buddhist caves?

Editing Notes edit

While copyediting I commented out a sentence that I couldn't understand and thought was too unclear to be left in the body as-is. Specifically, "Earlier idol as covered with armour obstruting its view, after its removal Girijatmaj's idol with neck turned to left side can be seen." If the original author would like to elaborate on what this means, either in the main article page or here in the discussion, hopefully we can find a way to put it in that's easily understandable to everyone. In the meantime it was not deleted, but made invisible. -- Kadin2048 00:40, 16 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Do not merge with Ashtavinayak edit

Article Lenyadri is not the same as the section Shri Girijatmaj under Ashtavinayak, since that article solely focuses only Ganesha related stories while the former is more inclinded towards the place lenyadri and history associated with it. Since Ganesha temple is the biggest attraction in Lenyadri the article will be dominated by information pertaining to it but slowly the article will get richer by local information edits (hopefully :)) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kedar Borhade (talkcontribs) 00:13, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am ɳorɑfʈ Talk! and I am a member of WikiProject Buddhism. I'll be reviewing this GA nomination. Should be done in a couple hours (or so). ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 03:24, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • To begin, nice article. I am enjoying reviewing it. The prose needs a little polishing, but I'm doing that myself as I go, so don't worry about it. The first paragraph under "Cave 7" has a [citation needed] tag, because you need to put the reference directly after the quote. Please correct that. I'll continue to review it. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 03:56, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the copyediting. Ref moved. --Redtigerxyz Talk 13:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • This line, under the chapels section: "Behind the relic-shrine, in a curve, are six eight-sided pillars." I'm not sure what you mean by "in a curve." If you can explain it to me here, I'll edit the article for you. Also, you use the term "corbelled" a couple times, and I don't know what that means. Can you explain that as well? Thanks. I'm almost done with the copyedit, by the way. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 06:52, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I hope the new line helps. --Redtigerxyz Talk 13:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • In Cave 15, you say "unproved doorway." What does this mean? In Cave 16, you say "Cave 16 is a small dwelling, slightly higher above cave 15." When you say this, do you mean the ceiling was higher? Or do you mean cave 16 is above cave 15? If cave 16 is above, how is it reached? Stairs? A ladder? ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 07:39, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
The reference calls it "unproved". "The cell is 7' 11" broad 7 9" deep and 7 high with an unproved doorway 2' 7" wide and 6' 2" high.". The word can be dropped, if it is a problem as even I do not know the clear meaning. Reworded Cave 16 sentence. --Redtigerxyz Talk 13:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Okay, the copyediting is done. It looks good. One thing I want to get your opinion on, before I make a decision: Do you think the detail about the ordinary numbered caves is necessary? I mean the ones that just have a bench and a cell, and stuff like that? Because I think the article would be just as strong if only the notable caves were described in detail. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 14:29, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The WP:FA? wants comprehensiveness. If I remove that, comprehensiveness will be compromised. --Redtigerxyz Talk 14:40, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
