Sherlock Holmes edit

"In keeping with the Sherlock Holmes referencing of the show, Stottlemeyer can be compared to Inspector Lestrade, as he is frequently forced to call in Monk whenever there is a case he or the police department cannot solve themselves."

--Er,what Sherlock Holmes referencing? It's pretty blatant in House, but I've seen most of the episodes of this show, and I've seen nothing like 'Sherlock Holmes referencing'. I hope no one minds if I delete this silly, fannish sentence.24.131.12.228 18:18, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's certainly there, the most obvious of which is Adrian:Ambrose :: Sherlock:Mycroft. 203.218.172.218 13:13, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Inspector Gadget edit

He resembles Chief Quimby from the 'Inspector Gadget' cartoon series. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pinikas (talkcontribs) 13:23, 23 December 2006 (UTC).Reply

Captain edit

Jclinard (talk) 15:27, 5 December 2008 (UTC) What makes Leland great as a Captain is that he doesn't have to solve each case himself. He delegates, and calls Monk in on the weird cases. He quit being jealous and used Monk's abilities to close cases. While he's not nearly the genius Monk is in solving cases, he knows when to call him in, and probably takes credit for outsourcing Monk's talents. Monk would approve.Reply

Differences between pilot and general show edit

Pilots frequently diverge from a show's general reality. Sometimes they even have different characters, or actors. Monk doesn't quite go that far, but I sensed when watching the pilot that Stottlemeyer's character was subtly different than in the rest of the show. His relationship with Monk was more antagonistic and competitive. I don't think he had that same jealous resentment of Monk in the other episodes, and their relationship was more like close friends. marbeh raglaim 12:31, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Age edit

the article says he is both over 51 years old, and the youngest guy on the force. Could it possibly be a misstatement? I thought Disher was the youngest...69.246.140.125 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 21:53, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Address edit

In episode Mr. Monk Is On The Run, Monk sends Stottlemeyer a postcard, giving his address as

338½ Folson St, San Fransisco, CA 90019

    • I should point out that the zip code on the postcard is actually a Los Angeles area zipcode, as the prop was altered probably to avoid giving away a real address. 67.161.128.30 (talk) 18:07, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
