In 2016 I found a web page which claimed the story was in fact the re-telling of a Scottish folk tale, but am unable to find it now. Does anyone know the Scottish tale ? 2A00:23C4:D885:7F00:2DA7:A300:9B16:7599 (talk) 06:17, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
- I have come across the 'Laird and the young laird' at Bennane Head in South Ayrshire. Rock formations indicated on a 1775 map. No local legend seems to survive. 07:59, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
