Mispelling of middle name edit

Emerson used the initial "E." usually. There are 631 hits on google for "Earl", 10 for "Earle" when eliminating mirror sites. He probably hated his middle name which is why he seldom used it. "Earle" would be an unusual spelling anyway. It could be wrong both on his birth certificate, and, since the military insists on "something", could have copied the wrong birth certificate. We go with "common" usage. We don't try to introduce unusual spellings after the man has died. Student7 (talk) 13:17, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I suppose we could state that he hated his middle name and never used it except when forced to and spelled it "Earl," thought it was spelled "Earle" on his "birth certificate." Note that these can be wrong too. Copied from town records. The town record could be wrong and spelled it differently from what his parents wanted. Student7 (talk) 13:32, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
