Is it known *why*... edit

...he doesn't use his surname? 31.52.198.186 (talk) 03:46, 23 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

The article doesn't really say he doesn't. It's hard to tell what, if anything, is different here compared to, say, Madonna, Elvis or Morrissey. JöG (talk) 21:19, 23 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

He's Lawrence. That's why. End of discussion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.104.195.40 (talk) 13:35, 3 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Photo? edit

Is there a better photo of this artist? You can't even see his face with the light shining into the camera. Liz Read! Talk! 21:25, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Name edit

Lawrence's surname of Hayward is well attested in reliable sources. He chooses not to use it professionally, but in that he is no different from Madonna, Cher, Beyoncé, etc etc. Whether or not he has "refused to verify it" is irrelevant so long as other reliable sources exist. This is an encyclopedia not a fan site, and we provide information in the opening sentence and infobox, as well as in the article text - we do not hide it. Therefore, I reverted this edit. As a compromise, I probably wouldn't object too much if it said something like "Lawrence (born Lawrence Hayward.....) etc." Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:38, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

During the mid-to-late 1980s he was referred to in Sounds as Lawrence Watson. The reliability (or degree of seriousness) of this appellation is by now, probably, beyond investigation. Harfarhs (talk) 09:32, 8 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
