Spelling

Sorry! My summary got cut off! It was: 1) Previous move violated Wikipedia's guidelines on English. (The Wikipedian made reference to this part of Russia being a part of Europe. That is irrelevant.) 2) The developers use the Shakespearean/American English. I'm working with the developers, so I should know. More on spelling... Where the name of the project was given using "centre" or "Centre", I have changed it to "Center". From my study of the wikipedia style guidelines, it seems to me proper that the spelling be consistent with the earliest usage in the article history, when it was renamed to "Okhta Center." The official project documents are in Russian, so there is no official Latin-alphabet spelling of the project name. I have retained the British spelling in citations and other uses of the word "centre" in proper names or titles. Etudiant (talk) 17:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Continuing the theme... an editor of this page changed "maximize" to "maximise" and "farther" to "further". I reverted back to the American English forms. In its history, the article has generally conformed to American English, and should remain consistent (see Manual of Style, National varieties of English, Retaining the existing variety). In particular, while "further" is preferred in British usage, "farther" is completely understandable, whereas in American usage "further" does not apply to physical distances. Note that the non-American spelling "metre" is used in this article, in conformance with international standards for naming of units of measure. Etudiant (talk) 00:10, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

While it's true that the official documentation is in Russian, there is an official English-language website, which calls the place "Lakhta Center" and uses AE spelling throughout (e.g. "favorable conditions"). Separate topics

"Okhta Center" search currently redirects here. I would suggest to separate it into two articles, or at least rename it "Okhta Center" with a section on Lakhta as a final version of the project. OC was a huge controversy, and a very important example of corruption in Russia. LC is just a building. It is interesting that Russian Wikipedia has separate articles. It is in fact a single project whose site was changed by a few kilometers, and a very large and impactful project at that. I changed the page title to reflect the project's actual name -- "Okhta Center" is historical, and does not refer to anything now in existence -- and that it is no longer Okhta Center is a very significant development, in terms of controversy, public and international reaction, and the light it sheds on the problem of corruption. It seems to me that the "Okhta Center" redirect to this page, with its explanation of how the site and name have changed, and recounting of objections that were made about the Okhta site, respond to these concerns. Perhaps you would like to expand the article, to cover the political implications more clearly and thoroughly? Etudiant (talk) 23:08, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

I would say that while "Okhta Center" does not refer to a specific building any more, it refers to the affair in general. Like Watergate does not really refer to the hotel, but to the scandal around it (there are two wiki pages about WG, by the way). I do plan on extending the article adding the political implication section (you can see that I left references in the appropriate sections). Hope to get to this soon! Awkward translation into English, odd structure

It seems that this article has been written in large part by non-native English speakers; there is a great deal of awkward phrasing, inappropriate capitalization, and poor style. It seems that a good dose of copy editing is in order. There are a few other issues with the structure as well, such as the entirely blank "Transportation development in Lakhta district due to the construstion of Lakhta Center" section. The 8 external project videos also make the article seem quite a bit like a promotion for the center, rather than an informative piece. Since I'm relatively new to editing, I thought I should post here before I dive in. Thoughts? Schnabeltiere (talk) 20:12, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Video

What are the thoughts on the video? Do they really make the page more informative and illustrative or would it be better to remove them? I added them to make the page more interactive and informative though thoughts and tastes may vary. As for structure of the article I do not find it odd but I acknowledge there may be some misphrasing. Wikipedia gives the right to edit articles to everyone so if you find editing necessary just go ahead, please. Kuskondu (talk) 17:19, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

zero cycle works

What is the purpose of zero cycle works explained in the article? I guess it has something to do with frozen soil in winter and its isolation. Could someone explain? Doblecaña (talk) 15:19, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
