Hardness

How is the Rockwell hardness 90? That would make it harder than steel - simply false. Haizum 10:13, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Something is ambiguous about the scale they are using. I'm sure there are different R scales for polycarbonate and ferrous metals simply because such vastly different materials would call for a relative scale rather than an absolute one. Haizum 17:10, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Proposed deletion

This entire article feels like an advertisement, based on both the language, and the fact that the only reference is the company's own website. Unless additional references confirming that the material is genuinely notable (per WP:CORP) can be provided, I recommend that this article be deleted. --Elonka 01:36, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Or, you could hold youself to your own standards and do a simple Google search. You will find that kydex dominates the holster and sheath market as an alternative to leather. If DuPont owned Teflon has its own article, there's no reason why kydex shouldn't. Haizum 05:12, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I am currently monitoring about 1500 articles. I'm happy to help offer advice about Wikipedia policies, but I just don't have time to research every single one. As it is, it's pretty clear that this article was added as spam, and per the latest guideline changes on self-promotional articles (check this article in the Wikipedia "Signpost" newsletter), it could actually be deleted on sight, if someone places a {{db-spam}} tag on it. If you really think it should be kept, I'd recommend adding a few references to it ASAP, so that it doesn't get deleted under the latest rules. --Elonka 06:15, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I had time to do some research this morning, so went ahead and added some references and did some other miscellaneous cleanup. I removed the prod, since I agree that kyvex has some notability as appearing to be the primary alternative material for gun holsters, after leather. --Elonka 17:00, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

easily molded? ...& used as Springs?

Not an alloy

Kydex is not an alloy. An alloy is a solid homogenous solution of metals and/or metals with non-metals. "Alloy" should be changed to "composite" or "material." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.250.0.96 (talk) 00:41, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Agreed, an alloy is composed of metals, a composite of two polymers is not an alloy. I changed "alloy" with "material". Heruamarth (talk) 09:57, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
