Kum & Go is currently proposing to rezone, demolish, and build over a one-hundred year old apartment building in the Drake neighborhood located near Drake University in Des Moines Iowa. Neighbors are concerned that this type of truck-stop sprawl will ruin the character of a historic neighborhood. Neighbors also grow tired of the trash and crime brought in by the store, and wonder how a company incapable of running a 20,000 square foot property could possible run a 40,000 square foot space any better. Kum & Go, however, has refused to compromise, and will displace 18 people from their apartments if the city Planning and Zoning Commission agrees.

While I'm aware of this issue, I don't feel this belongs in the article because of how it concerns only one store out of 400+. --Iowahwyman 04:37, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
