Wikification edit

This artical has some good stuff, it's just very poorly sorted out and strangely worded. Not worth completely scrapping. I started working on it, but I probably won't have time to finish it...

Cleanup edit

You put a cleanup notice on KUKL and I would like to improve it. What's wrong with it and how should I improve it? Regards, Luis María Benítez 22:25, 20 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Maybe you considered that some paragraphs are mere weasel statements, but in fact, I put all I’ve found about the band. These reviews were published by music publications that talked about this band. I don’t know anything about other publications and thoughts, because the band’s importance was limited to Iceland and Europe, but in the under music scene. So, I suppose that alternative music publications would only have good comments about these kind of bands, and that it wouldn’t go the same way with more commercial ones. I don’t know, but in any case I put the name of the publications and the date. Notice that these works were freely distributed in connection to concerts, and stuff like that. In other cases it is just a group of reviews gathered at different sites.

I wish I could find opposite opinions, but apparently no one wastes their time in criticizing something: when writing about music, people tend to worship.
If the content of these section is considered unbiased I could remove it and change some lines. Please, let me know what do you see I did wrong, because I would really like to make it better. I’m not asking you to do it, that’s why I’m here: to correct my mistakes. Kind regards, Luis María Benítez 22:48, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
P.S.: Apparently I already left two identical messages here, the page said there was an error and I wrongly pasted two messages (sorry).

Hi Luis, Please note that a 'cleanup' tag isn't intended as a critisism aimed at you or the work you've put in so far, but as a way of drawing attention to the page so that other wiki editors can give their input, so please don't take the tag I added personally, I drop them in all over the place where I feel that articles can be improved, but don't have the time or background knowledge on the subject to do it myself.
Regarding the KUKL article, the content itself is fine as far as I can see, but I'm guessing that English is not your first language, therefore it would be good for someone else to read it through and edit it down a bit and make it easier to read. (Please note that I'm unable to write in any language at at all other than English, so I totally admire your efforts in creating this page!)
I would say that the page needs cleanup mainly in terms of grammatical improvement, some editing down and re-organising of sentences, and rewriting of some POV passages in order to 'nuetralise' the 'fans' point of view (you don't need to find 'opposing' views, just tone down terms like 'legendary', etc). This doesn't apply to the quotes from the music press (these look fine to me, and are perfectly valid in an encyclopedia provided they are referenced as quotes, which you have done, and not presented as the page author's own opinion).
In summary, the page just needs a good copyedit.
I hope this explains why I added the tag, keep up the good work!
By the way, I was at the KUKL gig reviewed by Dave Tibet (with Chumbawamba and Flux of Pink Indians but was too drunk to remember much about it! quercus robur 09:22, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

LMB reply edit

I deeply thank you for the complete reply. This way you allowed me understand what are my weak points when writing articles. I found very useful that you highlighted my mistake of putting the word “legendary”. I will correct this and other articles where I could have used similar adjectives without taking into consideration that were mostly personal remarks or the quotes of just a pinch of a broader audience’s opinion. On this opportunity I was referring to Megas. Well, I just wanted to highlight his importance, because he was the one who brought rock to Iceland (early 1970s) or so to speak.
Of course, I’ve never thought this tag was against me or the topic. I just wanted to know what was wrong so that I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. I welcome all comments about this and other of my works so that I could improve the forthcoming articles. Again, all this has been very useful, so thanks a lot. Fair use rationale for Image:KUKL (Press release for Naughty Nought).jpg edit

Image:KUKL (Press release for Naughty Nought).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

KUKL translation edit

Medieval Icelandic for sorcerer? Somebody is making a joke. Kukl is a modern Icelandic colloquil term for feces. LOL ColDickPeters (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 18:59, 29 January 2009 (UTC).Reply

Late to reply but no - kukl is not feces. --Stalfur (talk) 10:03, 12 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
