Cleanup Needed edit

There are too many non-English words, too many links to articles not relevant to the English wikipedia, list is too indiscriminate. This is not the German wikipedia. If these problems are not corrected, page should be reverted to older version. Batamtig 21:27, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree. It's getting ridiculous. - Cybjorg 05:17, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
They don't even have all this nonsense on the German page. I'm going to revert it. - Batamtig 06:42, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cruft edit

It seems that this user is persistently adding irrelevant material here. I'll try to reason with him on his talk page. Batamtig 08:13, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

This page listed at translaton page. And besides, why do you remove personal redlinks (Kugler, Kugelmann)? --Sheynhertzגעשׁ״ך 09:02, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
What's the point of listing it as a translation? How does that justify your changes? Words like "der Kugelschreiber (Kuli)" and "das Kugelstoßen" are simply not English words. This is a disambig. page for words used in English, not a German language teaching page.
Excess redlinks should not be added indiscriminately.
To quote from Wikipedia:Disambiguation: "Disambiguation in Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects is the process of resolving ambiguity—the conflict that occurs when a term is closely associated with two or more different topics"
So, the disambiguation is basically so that if someone comes along looking for something that resembles "kugel" and finds the kugel article, which is not what they were looking for, they can go the the disambig. page and find what they were looking for.
I removed the links to German compound words, because I don't think they're relevant to the English wikipedia. All this stuff is not even present on the German page, de:Kugel (Begriffsklärung)!
I don't think anyone is likely to come along looking for "Kugelmann" and instead type in "kugel". Feel free to make up separate pages for "Kugelmann", "Kugler", etc.
Sheynhertz-Unbayg, could you please cut down your contributions to only those relevant to the kugel disambig. page. I don't think that there's more than one or two relevant links in what you've got. I've done a lot of work on the main kugel entry, and all this non-relevant material is kind of detracting from it. -Batamtig 09:42, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • This is really getting out of hand.

Going overboard edit

Hi Sheynhertz: You really ARE "going overboard" here with stuff that does not belong here. This is looking more like a philological and semantical article that should now be called Derivatives from the word kugel and not a disambiguation page. Try sticking to SIMPLE Kugels that are known primarily to English users (even though the word is derived from German, and in the USA the word "kugel" is known from its Yiddish usage) which would be more focused and simpler to read. You cannot add every last word from German, with prefixes and suffixes to kugel, that are NOT used in common English any time. For starters take out the red links for now. If you have any real articles for them, then perhaps you can bring them in at a later time. Or perhaps, create an article about how the word "evolves" and is connected to the "root" word kugel as I mentioned. Thank you. IZAK 10:07, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, all that has no relevance for English speakers except for the names, which probably belong somewhere like Kugel (surname). Well, I've got to go now- I promised to meet a friend of mine for some kugelkopf. --Eliyak 06:23, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Split off German Material edit

I've split off the German material into German Words and Surnames Derived from Kugel. Please do not add it back! Let's see if this works. -Batamtig 20:21, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

David Kugel edit

I was suprised to find no article yet on recently sentenced Madoff associate David Kugel. Any takers? Turn that red name blue, someone!!!!
