Speedy delete tag explained

User:John Reaves insists on deleting this article. First, he inserted the db-empty tag, minutes after the first stub was created, while I did not even finish the stub. Then re-added the tag, accidentally removing the content of the article I was just expanding and called me vandal in my talk page. Finally, he added db-bio tag insead, being already aware that I'm in the process of expanding the stub. Sometimes it's really hard to WP:AGF when you see a disruptive behaviour like this. --Lysy^talk 10:33, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

What's so hard about using the preview button instead of creating articles that do meet the criteria for db-empty? Removing speedy deletion tags is not appropriate behavior You're supposed to place {{hangon}}(which I see you finally figured out). This stub asserts no notability and provides one link, which is in Polish! I'll assume the WP:AGF sentence was placed by you on the behalf of me since I've had to struggle through your disregard for policy and lack of patience. OK, I think the issue here is that Wikipedia doesn't do work in progress articles. If you want to start and develop an article gradually like this in future, you can either use the 'show preview' feature, or create it in a subpage in your user space (created by forming a link on a page with a / e.g. /subpage of this talk). Nuttah68 has beaten me to not deleting it whilst I've been writing this, but as he notes you'll still have to finish it off to avoid a nomination for deletion. --Robdurbar 11:10, 7 January 2007

Thanks everyone. I'm not using the "show preview" feature, as my Internet connection is flakey and I've lost my edits a number of times because of this before, which I find frustrating. Your mileage may vary of course. --Lysy^talk 12:32, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

It's not your Internet connection. If you're not logged in and you try to start an article, you get a page that says you have to be logged in to start an article and then everything is gone. Really annoying bug IMHO. But it's not the preview feature that's to blame - to the contrary, that helps preserve edits from any aberrations that browser may throw at them. And really, you should never post ANYTHING, not so much as a comma, without previewing, because no matter how short and simple it is it inevitably gets fouled up when you don't, just by plain mean Murphy's Law. (For example, when you leave a space in front of your text and it ends up in a dotted box for no obvious reason) The other thing to remember is that if you don't preview the system keeps track of all your edits in a history, which means that (1) everybody gets to see your spelling and grammar mistakes in the History even if you correct them later (2) somewhere, there's a server filling up with space for all this stuff, and while they must have some clever way of compressing edit history it still must add up. 70.15.116.59 21:47, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
